    An adapter to an adapter- mehWish this was an all in one adapter instead of an adapter to an adapter for the nvme ssd card. 3OK, does the "Connector conversion". Note: You need a SATA Controller SAS compatible.It's OK. Does the conversion SATA to SAS (pin to pin).But be careful, it doesn't mean you will be able to read a SAS drive with a SATA interface.The protocol is different. Therefore, I don't know what this adaptor is for.I would like the manufacturer to explain.----- Update -----The vendor (or manufacturer ?) contacted me for my feedback.I agree with them, I bought this part thinking I could use it with my SATA controller.So, if it's not really well explained, You NEED a controller compatible with SAS drives.Actually I didn't know such SATA controllers were existing. I use mostly SAS controllers on servers.and most SAS controllers are compatible with SATA and don't need any adaptors.Good product overall. 4/5 stars because explanations are missing. 4Two StarsDid not work as expected - returned it. 2Useful to migrate SATA array to SASWorks exactly as required. Seems expensive, but fast shipping made price premium worth it for me. NOTE - adds 15mm to connection length.A little longer than my case can accommodate (disk trays mounted sideways), but since the connector is temporary until the cable can be replaced, it is not a big issue. These connectors needed as new SAS drives are hot-spared in. Once 4 are done I can replace the controller cable (currently SFF-8087 SAS to 4x SATA target) and these adapters with an all SAS SFF-8087 to 4x SFF-8482 target cable. Then move on to the next four.** IMPORTANT ** YOUR COMPUTER MUST HAVE A CONTROLLER THAT CAN SUPPORT SAS DRIVES. Hybrid controllers such as Adaptec 6805, LSI 9260 etc can simultaneously support SATA and SAS intermix. SAS is considered an enterprise/server technology. No desktop motherboard I know about has a built-in SAS controller. Most server motherboards don't either. THIS WILL NOT MAGICALLY ADAPT SAS drives to a standard SATA controller or USB-to-SATA adapter. Hope this info saves somebody from problems. 5It completely does not workI have a SATA adapter with external power that works well with my SATA hard drives. Bought this connector to use the adapter for my three SAS hard drives. However, it does not work for any of the SAS hard drives.
