works, but ... you get what you pay for.I bought this to use with 100' 12/3. I placed the middle of the cord against the spool and wound it have both plugs exposed. It fits, but is unwieldy and falls over when the cord is unwound.. I inserted 18' rods through the base to try stabilize it but that only helped in a minor way. Since I spent only $9.07, I'll keep using it until I find a better alternative.3100 foot is a bit tight but doable.I got a couple these to solve a problem with extension cords. I use really long cords for yard maintenance such as an electric leaf blower, and an electric weed cutter. The cord is always a pain to coil up and uncoil as it tries to twist itself into knots. I have a 100 foot cord that the description says will fit but It is really tight to get it all wound on the wheel. It makes it but only just. A second cable is a bit short and much easier to manage. To get it read for use is a bit tricky. In my coaled solution I could just lay it upside down. But with this uncoiling it causes the cord I need to be on the bottom of the pile. Since in in my case I always uncoil and recoil I have decided to wrap it backwards with the socket going on first and ending with the plug. This works better.5Smallish and flimsyI was disappointed to see how small this was - it looks bigger in all the images. It barely holds my 100 ft, 16 Ga. cord, and no way it would hold 150 ft claimed. I was hoping, since the write-up claims 150' of 16 Ga capacity, that it might hold my 100' long 12 Ga cord. Not a chance in he world, and the weight of that cord would be far too much for this light-duty unit in any event.Edit: After owning it for awhile I like it even less. I relegated it to the roughly 40' cord on my electric pressure washer, since that machine came with a reel for the pressure hose but nothing for the electrical cord. It holds the cord okay, but it's only 40' and not over 16 ga. Still, this reel tries to pop apart, and the crank handle falls off on a regular basis. Just a really flimsy, undersized piece of junk that's represented by the manufacturer to be more than it is. Glad it wasn't more expensive, because I'll get tired of the hassle and throw it away, I'm sure.2STURDY, WORKS GREAT FOR 10 GAUGE + GENERATOR CABLES TOO !!!I have many of these both from Woods and other brands (Bayco, etc.) both with and without the stand. I've had the Baycos for years and they still hold up great, but I like the knob on the Woods for easier windup. It moves well by itself, but I also spray everything with silicone lubricant when I can (little suggestion.)BEST OF ALL, I wanted to show here that they work very well for 10 AWG (both 3- and 4-conductor) extension cords and generator cables as well. The photos show 3 reels (without stands.) The right side is 25' of yellow FLAT 10/4 AWG 30 AMP generator cable - fits perfect. Center photo is a 50' red 10/3 triple-tap extension cord. Also fits PERFECT. To the left is 50' feet of standard (I.e. ROUND) 10/4 AWG 30 AMP generator extension cord. Doesn't fit entirely into the reel, but it's close enough that the reel makes it that much easier to coil the cord and just wrap it with some Velcro straps. So even for the 50' 10/4 cable, it's still worth it to me. Also, they reels feel durable enough to withstand the heavier cranking needed to reel up the cables.Great product. Very happy with them. Plan to buy a few more for my backup generator and Christmas lights as soon as I get the chance!5Chord Master for Musicians A musician I need this wheel to wrap up my guitar cables and speaker cables, and microphone cables, any kat out there can keep those cable from bundling by getting a couple of these make my life easy at the end of a 4 hour gig tear down not to mention set ups are faster now. should come up with a name for marketing to musicians, Chord Master. ya! 5cord reel that has its limitations!I don't think you can write a 90 page essay on a hose reel but let me tell you something it.The hose reel is constructed of a lightweight plastic so I don't recommend it for anything heavy like large gauge wire. The construction of the reel is good but it is fairly lightweight so I honestly don't know how much abuse it will handle. On the cord reel there is a small hook. This is the hook that you attach whatever it is you are winding up. A word of warning here. It is a very small hook so whatever you wind needs to be thin otherwise it will not fit under the hook.To sum it all up, the cord reel is very lightweight but the construction is fine. If you are winding a lightweight extension cord it will work perfectly, but if you want to wind anything heavier, look for a heavy duty winder!3I'd also like to see a hole through the center that allows ...Ordered four of these. They're a major improvement over simply coiling wire, but a few things could be improved. One out of four had the handle fall off. Not the internal handle, the outside one. That connection does seem a bit fragile. I'd also like to see a hole through the center that allows the end of the cord to be passed through so that you can plug it in and just unwind what you need. That may not be possible with this design, but it would be a major improvement. As it is, I put the cord through one of the side holes and achieve the same effect, but the cord gets in the way as you wind it if you do that. Altogether I recommend it, but it's cheaply made and not very durable. (I paid for all four of these, no free product for positive review here)3Do yoursel a favor and get something more appropriate for heavier longer power cordsI bought this SPECIFICALLY for my 100 foot 12/30 power cord, based on some of the reviews I had read. NO - this is NOT the correct product for such a long, thick and heavy line. Once you have spent the time and effort to roll the line, it almost touches the handle. You will also need to be extra careful when you are unrolling the cord. Because, it will cause damage to your hand, fingers or knuckles. Since you have to hold onto the unit. Otherwise, it will just follow you like a dog on a leash. Once the cord is fully rolled and you pick up the unit, it almost feels like it is going to break apart under the heavy weight of the cord.3Must remove entire cord to use, storage mechanism bulky and winds unevenly. Just don't.Defeats the purpose. I bought this so I could unwind what I need while keeping the rest tangle free and out of the way. However, there is no way to use the cord while it is on this wheel. One end is trapped under everything. If you want longtime storage, you don't need something this bulky. Plus, because of where the end is trapped, the inner wheel is bulky and doesn't allow for smooth and even winding of the cord.1It's sad that companies can engage in such blatant deceptionFalse advertising. The blurb promised this device holds 125 feet of 14-3 cord. It doesn't even hold 100 feet of 14-3 cord. Do not count on it holding more than approximately 75 feet. It's sad that companies can engage in such blatant deception.1TinyI have owned 4 of these type cord reels, both at home and work. I chose this one because based on the description it seemed to be among the larger ones. It is absolutely the smallest cord reel of this type I've ever seen. My husky brand 14/3 100' absolutely does not fit. Build quality is nice, but it is way too small. Deceptive description. Do not buy for anything longer than 75'2
