Customer Reviews

Great for Small Surround and Satellite speakersI bought these to mount the surround speakers from the Energy Take Classic 5.1 system. As it states in the description, it is meant for speakers less than 10 pounds so if you are looking to mount a full size bookshelf speaker, I would go a different route, but these are really great for mid to small sized speakers. Even though mounts are made from a polymer compound, I have had no trouble with them stripping or slipping, just be sure that you do not over tighten the joint screws or the mounting screws and you should be able to keep these for a very long time. I bought these in 2011 and I still use them today. They will last a long time as long as you use common sense when tightening things down. If you feel like you really have to almost strip the plastic to get it to stay, then the speaker is too heavy for the mount, but staying within the weight guidelines, you should have no issues.Christian5Great Product for the PriceI recently bought these to use them with my Energy Take Classic 5.1 Speakers for my Home Theater Setup. The speakers are between 2-3 pounds each and since I live in an apartment I did not want to spend too much for mouting them on the dry wall. Most "great" quality mounts seem to be 6-10 times more expensive so I chose this based on other reviews of this product. And I have no regrets I can recommend it to anyone on a budget.Though to begin with I was a little worried about how well these groveless plastic mounts will hold my speakers. But now after installation I find them pretty secure and solid I am confident that they will hold well. But I would keep an eye on them every now and then just in case. The reason I went ahead with these mounts is exactly due to the detailed feedback from the Amazon reviewers great job everyone. It is only fair that I do my share so here it is.I though a bit about how many stars does this deserve and I think it should be 4 the reason for the missing star is as follows1) Plastic Threads: The machine screws that need to be tightened to hold the joints together are running on plastic threads that could be damaged easily.2) No Grooves: The could have easily provided some grooves in the joints such that the joints do not come off just by pulling hard at both the ends. Due to the lack of this weight carrying capacity is low especially in the ceiling mount posting. The 10LB weight might not be suitable for all mounting scenarios I would say be use caution when planning to use these mounts.3) Slippage: No matter how tight you tighten them there is a certain amount of slippage around the joint in a circular fashion i.e you can turn the speaker (not pull) but turn it around the joint. This can be taken as a feature but if you are attaching the speaker to the mount using screws yourself(i.e not using the original key hole or threaded insert slot) and if you make a slight mistake as in to create imbalance then the speaker might turn around the joints to compensate for the imbalance. Well that is what I think as I used threated slots for my energy speakers.4) Washer: The instruction say that it is critical to use the washer while mounting with M4 screw hole of the speaker but the washer just cannot be put on to the M4 screw.5) Anchors: that where included don't have a lip so it is kind of tricky to get the Screw into the Achors without pushing it into the wall. I lost two anchors but I had 4 extra. Later I took care to screw on the anchor just a little bit before inserting it into the wall. They can easily remedy this and the washer issue. However there are great advantages tooThey are pretty Universal come with a bunch of options for mounting on wall side or speaker side.Lot of Hardware: Screws and washers enable you to choose many of those options as allowed by the product.Good (but not great) instructions. Some instructions are better than none. The following is what I had to do to mount my Energy Speakers hope this helps people purchasing these mounts for these or other speakers. It was easy to install the wall side of the speakers two of them on stud without the anchors. And three with anchors on drywall (just read my above note about anchors slipping into the wall) for which you will need a 5/16 drill bit not included in the kit.On the speaker side it is a little more complicated because of the speaker design nothing to do with the VideoSecu mount. I wanted to use the center M4 threaded slot on the speaker because it made a cleaner install. The center speaker mounts fine without any problems using the center M4 threaded slot on to the VideoSecu center hole mounting stub. But the satellite speaker has a problem in the way the center M4 threaded slot is nestled between the keyhole mounting slot and the speaker wire contact port. Since the distance between them is a 1 0r 2 mm shorter than the center hole mounting stub that came with the mounts I had two options1) To remove the keyhole mount (pretty easy just remove the two screws) or2) Grind the side of the VideoSecu center hole mounting stub.I removed the keyhole mount of one speaker and the VideoSecu mount fit well on the center threaded slot. However I did not want to keep track of extra hardware and the speakers looked better with the keyhole mount hence I decided to go with grinding. Now I had to sand them on two side(again got this idea from another review on amazon) because cutting such a thin 1mm slice is not easy without proper tools. Since I did not have a sanding machine I figured that I could grind it on my concrete patio. I pushed it down firmly against the concrete between my fingers and grinded it by running back and forth a few times that worked well. It was a little tricky but now with the little bit of grinding it fits so well as if they were custom made for my speakers. I am satisfied with the whole setup it is a great. My Speakers Energy 5.1 Take Classic Home Theater System (Set of Six, Black).4They are sturdy, easy to adjustI was dreading wall mounting my new 2lb bookshelf speakers but these made it a snap. They are sturdy, easy to adjust, and come with everything you might need to install them in a variety of ways.My speakers had the threaded holes you d see on a camera tripod. This kit had the right bolt and mounting hole so that it worked prefect. These things seem very sturdy and could probably support quite a bit more weight than my little bookshelf speakers...All in all, for the price paid I d say these were a bargain. Highly impressed!5Supplied 1/4 thread screw doesn't work (that means it doesn't fit most speakers)Bought this item, ignoring many buyers advice (didn't understand the details till experienced it myself), because I needed the speaker mounts. Comes with several screws provides plenty of options. However for single threaded hole mount option, you are out of luck. The supplied 1/4 screw seem to be finer thread count and not the standard 20 thread count. It doesn't seem to be metric either. Learnt a good deal about screws and thread count in this process. Still didn't help find a suitable screw from all local hardware stores because the regular 1/4 screws has bigger head which doesn't fit inside the mount. Can't comment on the quality / holding performance since haven't been able to mount it yet. It does seem the hinges will slip under the weight due to smooth surfaces of hinges. (I have seen security camera mounts that has similar hinges but with gear like teeth which mesh together creating robust hold with minimal tightening required).2Perfect solution for your satellite speakers! Price cant be beat!Wow! These Videosecu Speaker brackets were absolutely perfect for mounting some small HTIB satellite speakers to the wall in my theatre room, and a second set on the ceiling for my zone 2 speakers in an adjacent room. The price is awesome, especially for the flexibility these speaker mounts offered.Assembly:I mounted 2 speakers on the wall in the theatre room, and 2 on the ceiling in the adjacent room. All the hardware was included for multiple mounting options (direct stud, drywall mounting, etc) The mounts were also flexible to accommodate multiple types of speaker screw attachments, and again, all the hardware and instructions were included.Product Quality:Some customers mentioned having issues with the mounts bending from the weight of the speakers, etc, but I had no issues at all. Granted, my satellite speakers are relatively small, but still, they seemed durable enough to hold speakers 2-3 times the size of mine. For wall mounting, be sure to take off the extension piece, per the instructions. You only use the extension arm piece for ceiling mounting. If you dont take it off, i could see how the speakers could cause the mount to bend from sticking out so far. For my particular installation, it is rock solid, but not sure i'd tempt fate trying to attach a ~10lb speaker, testing the limit of the product specs.Instructions:There were a few pieces of the instructions that didnt make sense whatsoever. Not to mention the speaker connection instructions actually told me it was critical to use the plastic washers when attaching speakers, yet there was no way it was possible (unless laws of physics change, or they didnt mention the need to drill out the washer) I ignored this 'critical' piece, and it worked flawlessly. It's hard to find good instructions on anything nowadays...so not gonna dock a star for that.Overall, these mounts were exactly what i was looking for! Minus having to stretch a few brain cells in deciphering the instructions, then using some common sense when the instructions failed, I'm very pleased with the product quality, flexible mounting options, and hardware included. Great value!5Good for walls, not for ceilings.I have these ceiling mounted with my Enclave Audio speakers. I mounted the front and surround speakers on these mounts.Pros:- They work- Lots of flexibility in terms of angle and direction- The wall anchors they provide are appropriate for ceiling mounted applicationsCons:- With all that flexibility comes a bit of a challenge of tightening all the hex screws just right at each location while suspending the speaker in the air.- Those hex screws don't feel very secure at each joint and seam. Tighten too much and it "jumps" back to a loose setting. I would rather they get tight and I can feel when to stop. For ceiling mounted speakers I want it to feel tight!I'd recommend these for wall mounts, probably not for ceiling mounts.4Mounts work well if you get a good setFor the mounts in this set that managed to arrive with no manufacturing problems, they have provided a good method for mounting my small home theater speakers. Unfortunately, the mounts suffer from QA issues and may not be usable at all. Out of the six mounts, one was rendered useless due to stripped threading making it impossible to attach a speaker to the mount. Another mount failed to tighten down properly, also due to thread problems, and now my speaker has a noticeable tilt that is not possible to fix.If you do get a complete set of mounts with no problems, there is plenty to like about this set. The hardware package comes with multiple screws and washers for mounting just about every type of speaker made. The adjustments available on the mounts that are not stripped allow for a lot of customization in the positioning of your speakers. To mount the base plate to the wall, the package comes with two wood screws and plastic anchors that provide enough support for light speakers, but will probably not hold up to a heavier load. While the hardware is present for multiple mount types, the instructions are lacking. There is a single page, front and back, that gives directions for every mount type included. The instructions are not thorough, and the pictures are of poor quality and do not really show enough for certain mount types to be easily deciphered. If you do not have previous experience with speaker mounts, the instructions will do little to help. Most of the process is common sense, but higher quality instructions should be included. The mounts in this package do work well if the quality issues do not prevent you from mounting your speakers. Four of my speakers are mounted and are not showing any signs of problems. Unfortunately the other two mounts have made mounting the fifth speaker problematic. If you are going to purchase speaker mounts, I would look at another product with better quality materials than what these are constructed with.2Double up for heavier speakersThese work great for the Onkyo SKS-HT540 speaker set. However, keep in mind that if your speakers are any heavier than a few pounds or anything other than satellite speakers then you should double up your mounts like I did. I used all six mounts on the three front channels and have the rears on shelves (only using 5.1 of the 7.1 speakers).5Awesome!I bought these with a bit of apprehensiveness because of the other reviews that said these mounts could not hold speakers near the stated 10lb limit. They worked great. What you do need to do (as other reviewers have said) is to tighten the elbow screw so the heavy speaker will stay pointed to where you tell it to.These speaker mounts are great, but I took one star off for the following minor aspects:* The elbow does not have "teeth" which would help stabilize the speaker angle. Yes, you can tighten the nut enough for heavy speakers to remain pointed where you want them, but given that these mounts are made of a hard plastic, it would have made more sense for the manufacturer to give the joint little teeth so that you could point a heavy speaker with less tightening.* There is no way to secure or run the speaker wire along the mount. I know, this is only like 4-5 inches long, and hiding speaker wire in something so small is nitpicky. But some of these installations are all about neatness, and the truth is that installation would look cleaner if there was no visible wire. You can do stuff like zip-tie the speaker wire onto the mount, though. The mounts come with a good amount of hardware (screws, etc) and a hex key so you can loosen/tighten the screws. I could not attach my speakers without drilling new holes into them (this cannot be the fault of the manufacturer of these mounts). I just used the screws that came with these mounts to attach my speakers to the mount, and that worked out perfectly.Everything else about these mounts is a-ok, though. I have relatively heavy speakers mounted to the ceiling, pointed the way I need them to, and they are holding on securely. That's the main mission of these things, so I am very happy with this purchase, especially given the low price.4Price-to-Quality Ratio About RightThese speaker mounts are cheap (about $3 apiece), and look like a really good deal, but honestly I would have been unhappy if I paid more than ~$20 for them. This is not a $95 package as the advertised "retail" price would have you believe. They are a 3-star product with a 5-star price. The price makes these look super-convenient, which is questionable.Be honest with yourself: you are considering this product because it contains all of the specialized mounting hardware you need in a tidy little package at a disposable price. My advice: buy a couple spares in the likely event you need to dispose of one or two. More advice: if you are not brave, don't buy disposable brackets for non-disposable speakers. I don't believe there is any warranty that covers your speakers if the mount breaks. These come individually packaged with an allen wrench and a myriad of small screws and bolts. The manual is a single sheet of paper with some pictures and not-too-cryptic instructions. If you read them, which I recommend, you will learn that the extension arms should only be used when hanging vertically from a ceiling, otherwise it will sag like in some of the other reviewers' complaints. To install, you will need a basic power drill/driver and probably more time than you anticipate. You will be tempted to over-tighten the collar bolts with the allen wrench, which will crack the threaded hole. That's why you bought the spares, remember? If you are even moderately creative, take $50 to a hardware store and you can probably improvise some simple mounts which are vastly sturdier than these. I may try that next time.3
