Customer Reviews

Works well for budget carpet cleaningThis little machine works well for the cost. The larger mouthpiece doesn t have super great suction for wet vacuuming purposes, but the smaller angled piece works really well for carpet cleaning on a budget. Be sure to rinse out the actual hose after each use, because I didn t the first couple of times and it started to smell after a couple of days. Even if you dump out the hose make sure you run water through it a few times to get everything out of the ridges.5primarily for household messes like spilled cat litter and cerealI've used this for 9 months now, primarily for household messes like spilled cat litter and cereal. It replaced a small shop vac brand of similar size and HP. This has less suction, so it takes me longer to clean all those corners. It's not bad, but there is one main design flaw...see the vent on the top? That's your air exhaust vent. The vent points down and towards the hose, towards the FRONT of the unit. So, if you have the unit turned forward, which I think is how most people would use it, the air actually blows towards the dust/mess you are trying to clean up, spreading it around the room. After a few mishaps, I have learned I have to turn the unit backwards and hold it there when I'm using it, if I don't want to leaf-blow the mess around the room (turning the unit backwards effectively shortens the hose, too.) It's awkward. So, I will use this until it wears out, but I would not buy another of this design. That air exhaust vent is very badly placed.3Highly Disappointed - Product ReturnedThe Vacmaster 2.5 gallon was a VERY big disappointment. I'd compare the 'value' of the vac for getting up water about the same as using a decent mop and maybe a few bath towels. I fully realize there are larger (more powerful?) vac's on the market however this one was a waste of time and effort in all regards. On a positive note...*** The return process via Amazon was fast, efficient and easy to execute. I have not yet been refunded as the UPS return will not be processed until tomorrow however, I fully expect the end to end process of the return will be satisfactory.2I know Its been two years since I received the ... I know Its been two years since I received the Vacmaster but I would have thought that the stainless steel bucket would not have rusted through, with two holes that you can put a finger through. I emptied the tank after every use, which has only been a half a dozen times when the concrete floor gets wet. I will go with the plastic bucket next time. 3... for a week and found that this was the best value for the motor power and ability to blow I probably researched for a week and found that this was the best value for the motor power and ability to blow. It's incredibly easy to use and I love the long cord and easily detachable blower.I had a previous vacuum of a comparable power and this one just is built stronger. The switch is a rocker where my old one was a push switch. The push switch would always get stuck. I love all the places for attachments so things are at hand. The hose itself is rather big and my large hands can hardly hold it but I'm adjusting to the use. 5Small but powerful VacBefore putting the vac to work I wanted to preserve the cloth filter. So I followed an online suggestion to purchase upright vacuum cleaner bags from the thrift store, cut to size, cover over the cloth filter and secure it with a metal clamp (one of those you put around a dryer vent). I also put a plastic shopping bag in the drum to make clean up easier. Both modifications worked without taking away the vac s great suction power and made it easier to clean up saw dust. The stiff short 4' hose did make it a little difficult to maneuver around the work area. I replaced that hose with a shop vac 1 1/4-in 8-ft hose. There are 4 slots at the bottom to add wheeled coaster which I did. I m concerned about the durability of the plastic tab on the sides that connects the lid to the drum. Overall I am quite happy with my purchase and glad I no longer have to lug around my 16 gallon Ridgid vac for small jobs.4Best "Shop Vac" type vac I've ever owned! This on the Vacmaster 6 Gallon, Vacuum, VQ607SFDThis is THE best "shop vac" I've owned yet, and believe me, with big dogs, a sculpture studio and home projects I've gone thru a lot of "Shop Vacs" and cartridge filters over the years!THIS one is much quieter, much better made and very powerful, to those that claim it doesn't have as much power as some vac they didn't name, I have a video, just watch this baby suck up a handful of pennies, washers, screws etc as fast as if it was just sawdust, it has loads of power!I might buy a second one just so I have it's eventual replacement as I know these days you buy something and 6 months later it's discontinued and a "newer model" replaces it that may be completely different. 5It's not a ShopVac.... but it's not priced like one either! I have bought two of these units about a month or so apart. The overall quality is okay and it has worked okay for the last couple of months... BUT what I have noticed on both units are they don't move a lot of air. Being 5 peak HP I would have thought the CFMs (Cubic Feet of air Moved) would be similar to my ShopVac that they have replaced. Here's how I am using them.I have it set up to vac up router sawdust. Like many wood shops I have a router set up as a small shaper and the fence has a vac attachment. This does NOT do a very good job compared to my Shopvac. As I recall the only difference was my Shopvac was 16 gallon instead of this 12 unit. They both said 5HP.... what I don't recall was the CFM's on them.Either way, this one doesn't collect much of the router sawdust compared to the Shopvac brand. Of course it was much cheaper and it does do a good job in other ways, but not good as a router/shaper dust collector. It's always going to boil down to CFMs.Should it crap out quickly I'll update, but so far... it's okay, not great. 3Power sucking tiny vaccum with inflexible plastic hose. Works great! This is a powerful little vacuum. The hose is cheap inflexible plastic, but it's fine and expected. My 3 y/o grandsonvacuumed with this 'baby' vacuum and had fun with it. I like it a lot, especially the handle for carrying. It comes with a fiber paper type filter with elastic AND a foam filter for water extraction that fits on the neck of the motor area to protect it. Dirt and debri get sucked up and fall into the blue bucket part. I'm glad I bought this vacuum. I didn't give it 5 stars, because it's annoying to open the side clamps.4Good vac, crappy attachmentsThe vac is great. Lots of suction. EZ to convert from wet to dry without the need to use bags. Hose is stiff and short, brush attachment falls off while using it, so it loses a star.Whenever you buy from Amazon, use the Smile.Amazon.com website when you check-out and pay for your items. Amazon will donate a percentage of your transaction to your favorite charity. Make a difference!4Terrible-Quality Vacuum Not Suited For Any Job/TaskI am so disappointed with this vacuum: it is terribly loud, incredibly inflexible and invariably comes apart during use. The "brush" attachment easily slides off during cleaning, and using any attachment decreases air flow, sometimes quite significantly. (Sometimes this is because the attachment or the very hose itself have started to separate from the vacuum during use without you knowing it.) If it weren't a mess from trying to use it on our pellet stove (when cool only of course), I'd return it.12.5 gal. does NOT come with casters/wheels?!The reviews were great and I saw an answered question that talked about the casters - that they come with the unit and how to attach them. I would assume they would include wheels? The 2.5 gallon model has 4 inset places to PUT casters (see photo of bottom of unit), but it doesn't come with any and they are not listed in the parts manual, and you can't even buy them separately. Seems nuts to have a place to PUT the casters but not provide them or sell separately. I'm not using this thing without wheels. Will need to return UGH.1Very good quality! Here's what you need to know! I am new to the Vacmaster brand but am happy to report that this is a very high quality shop vac system. Everything you need in a shop vac kit is here with this particular model intending to be mounted to the wall. I mounted in my garage which makes car and floor cleanups very easy and convenient. Both hoses connected will give you easy coverage for 20-feet in all directions, by my estimate. The vacuum works well and is a huge improvement over my older 14-gal Rigid, which I came to realize was way too big for my needs. 5 gallon seems just about perfect.Setup is easy and the device seems to be well engineered. Everything from the thoughtful power cord wrap in the rear to the clamps that hold the motor to the bucket. The only thing missing from the directions specifically is what to do about the 2 hoses. Put them together? Which one first? The images on the box itself shows both hoses connected so this is clearly a supported way to operate. I tried it both ways and think the best method is with the standard hose connected directly to the vac base and the flex hose put on the end nearest to you. When the suction is active, the flex hose will constrict quite a bit, this constriction is worse when it's connected directly to the base. I'd say it would almost be better with 2 lengths of standard hose, honestly. The only other thing that I think would improve this product greatly is some kind of clear sight window in the base bucket so you can gauge how full it is. Being that this is mounted on the wall, you may not be very likely to take it down and check unless you really have to. One other thing to note is that the remote power control wand is battery operated and communicates wirelessly to the base which is activated by putting the base power switch in a special wireless position. The battery is included in the wand, which is sadly a non-standard model that will have to be sought out specially. We'll see how well this works over time. When mounting on the wall, make sure to mount it high enough so that you don't have to duck around the hose port if it will be in your walking path.Things I really like about the Vacmaster:-Powerful suction-Wide assortment of attachments which are stored on the base directly-Blower noise diffuser included-Remote on/off power handle-Very large and high quality filter included (foam for wet included as well)-Wall mount system works great and stores everything, including extension wandsThings that could be improved:-Sight window on bucket to gauge fullness would be nice (since this is mounted on the wall)-Dual connected hoses work ok but flex hose shrinks a lot while in use. 2 standards hoses would've been fine.-There is also no "good" way to wrap and store the hoses. I just wrap both around the body using the top handle as a stop. Not pretty but effective.-The power handle uses a non-standard 23a 12v battery which will have to be purchased speciallyOverall very happy with the vacmaster and even happier I no longer have to lug my large and heavy 14-gallon rigid vac around to clean the car or pick up messes. 5DANGEROUS! This has no grounding and will electrocute youUsed this vac to help clean my fountain. After about 15 minutes, it started getting really hot to the touch. Then it smoked and shocked me. I looked at the cord and it isn't a grounded one. How can this even be on the market when it is used for Wet/Dry vacuuming and isn't grounded? It was a complete waste of money and it's dangerous.1Clearing Up Some 1 Star Reviews I'm leaving this vacuum a five star review. I've used it on my carpeted stairs as well as outside for leaves. The vacuum did better than expected in both scenarios. I read a ton of amazon reviews on this product and it seems to get some negative feedback in terms of its reliability out of the box. People also complain a lot about the wheels falling off. I'm hoping to clear some of those reviews up.Lets get the easy one out of the way first. The casters slide onto the bottom of the chassis. Vacmaster provides screws to secure the casters on. People who are complaining about them falling off, simply did not use the screws to secure the casters into place. As for the reliability out of the box. When I first plugged in the vacuum and started it up, it worked great. After about 5 minutes it shut off. My first thought was that I got a dud unit like some of the other reviews I read. After some trouble shooting I realized the vacuum tripped a breaker. I found this odd until I realized I had plugged it into an outlet that was running off a #15 breaker. I'm assuming this was the case for most of the one star reviews the product received. I would suggest plugging this vacuum into a kitchen outlet. Most kitchen outlets are running off a #20 or higher breaker because they are meant to run appliances. Once I plugged into a kitchen outlet (#20 breaker) the thing worked like a dream. It has plenty of suction in vacuum mode and did very well in my smallish back yard as a leaf blower. That being said, you will definitely need an extension cord. Especially for me because most of the breakers in my house are #15's. I have only used the unit three times and can't attest to it's reliability over an extended time, but with a two year warranty I'm not too worried. I love all of the on-board storage for the accessories. The hose also has a locking mechanism and stays connected to the chassis with no worries. This comes in handy when you're pulling the unit around by the hose in vacuum mode. Overall, it was a good purchase in my mind and exceeds my needs. Thanks for reading and happy shopping! 5What product did you get?I purchased this after reading the reviews. The consensus was this thing was it was above average in suction for its size and price.I'm a locksmith and needed something to vacuum up the brass shavings in my van and light clean up around doors where I install deadbolts etc.I'm just all around bummed at the weak suction and poor performance of this item, it wont pick up light wood shavings unless you hand feed it, and little brass shavings that weigh nothing have to be coaxed into the thin nozzle. Save your dough, look elsewhere2Just Perfect Just perfect! I'm in my 70's and it is a perfect size for me to lift, wheels roll really well, easy to maneuver, very sturdy.I love the hose attachment for it screws onto the base which makes it secure, unlike some that just push in (and come out when pulling the machine around). Was able to clean my screened in porch, which was filled with pollen and dirt from the winter, without a problem. Sucked up the pollen and dirt first using the vac bag included then removed the bag and sucked up the water I used to wash the porch down. Hard work for an old lady, but this made it easier. But to make you aware, although it is a 4 gallon it only holds less than 2 gallons of liquid before shutting down. But that was OK with me because it was easier to empty the water out. 5Strong, super quiet with the attached muffler, great attachments and blower is fantastic. Update: 14 Jan 17: I have been renovating the heck out of my home the last 8 or so months. I purchased this because of the price alone. Figured, if I was going to be abusing it to the level that I have, I wouldn't be out a massive amount of money if I ruined it. Well, this thing is incredible. It is easy to empty, easy to use, quieter than any shop vac I have ever used, easy to roll around, and the filter blows out easy too. One of the best decisions I have ever made for renovating this house. Let me tell you how badly I have abused this machine. My home is covered in popcorn ceilings. I hate popcorn ceilings, and hate scraping it off and making a massive mess. So, I taped a drywall mud knife to the underside of the floor attachment, sprayed the ceilings with water (pump sprayer) and then proceeded to scrape and suck up all the popcorn with this vacuum. After every room, I set the filter outside to dry. Once dried, I bang it out in the trash can (wear a mask FYI) and then use the vacuums blower function to blow it out. Slap that puppy back in, and do the next room. This thing just keeps on going. The hoses do get a little clogged up, but take a garden house and spray them out, it does fine. Man, I will never buy another brand of vacuum as long as these people are around. Buy it, if you don't like it, you're insane.I have had this about a week now.Easy set up. Was up and running within five minutes.Great suction and has enough attachments to get just about any job done. Also there is something it comes with I didn't see listed, it has a muffler attachment. This machine runs quieter (with this on, you do lose a tiny bit of suction, not much) than my normal upright vacuum. Seriously, my wife and I were talking while I was running it.The blower is great as well. Does everything advertised and more. 5
