The 82mm version does not match the photo! I only have an issue with the 82mm version of this cap...I have two Tamron lenses -- their 24-70 which requires 82mm caps/filters and their 70-200 which requires 77mm caps/filters. I purchased both lenses at the same time and was surprised to see that they had different lens caps. The lens cap on the 70-200 was exactly as pictured for this product on Amazon.com -- nice deep, square, finger wells that make the cap easy to grab and hold on to. However, the lens cap on the 24-70 was not nearly as nice -- the finger wells were shallow and curved, making it more difficult to grab.I ordered the 82mm version of this from Amazon.com hoping it would match the picture (and match the nice cap that came with the 70-200) -- IT DOES NOT. The 82mm version of this cap from Amazon.com is exactly like the 82mm version of the cap that came with the Tamron 24-70 -- shallow/curved finger wells. Not worth returning -- always good to have a spare. Nevertheless, I was indeed disappointed that the 82mm version of this product did not match photo. 1Tamron just ruined the best lens cap on the market. I have been purchasing center-pinch Tamron lens caps for all of my lenses for years (I have probably purchased more than two dozens caps). Each cap has been perfect, and many of them are well over 10 years old and work as well as when they were new. The fit, spring tension, design, etc., were all excellent. I would absolutely rate the old caps as 5-star products.I recently (July 2017) purchased another 77mm cap, and found that it didn't work- one of the spring-loaded tabs was jammed in the locked position. To not-at-all my amazement, it appears that Tamron has moved production of these caps to China (they have been made in Japan since Tamron started making them).I don't know if this is a counterfeit cap (it was sold and shipped by Amazon), or if (more likely) Tamron decided to save a few bucks by making them cheap and junky, but I would never buy another one of these. I would happily pay a few dollars extra any day to get the old Tamron quality back. 1110 percent better than Zeiss. Perfect fit and finish I Absolutely love this lens cap. It's the best I can buy and I have tried many brands. I purchased this for my lost Zeiss cap (which was horrendous and horrible to attach and detach) and am I glad I lost the Zeiss. R Zeiss eplacement cap was $35. No way I would pay that. So I decided to try the Tamron. Price was $6, it is made in Japan and the quality is top notch. Better than anything else on the market. It is tight and easy to grip and easy to use. The fit and finish is perfect. So I'll have a Tamron cap on my Zeiss. Big deal. I'm actually very happy. Thanks for your time reading this review. 5Great Solid Cap I bought this to go on my Tamron 28-75 f2.8 and I'd give it 5 stars if I didn't have to take the cap off every time I take my lens hood on or off. I like to put the cap on before putting the hood back on backwards after I've used the lens just as a precaution that I don't touch the lens with my greasy fingers or scratch it with the lens hood which I know I'm being a little nit picky but I like to avoid scratching my lens or my lens filters as much as possible. 4This was a great find This was a great find for me. I have an old Tamron zoom lens from the 1970's. The lens is in good shape, but the original lens cap had broken. I like having the old film cameras on display, so this is a nice addition to call attention to the Tamron lens, and this cap is so much easier to use. For those just looking for a nice "pinch" lens cap, this one seems to be better quality than some of the generic ones I have purchased for my modern cameras. 5Makes my third eye blind I am the worst at losing lens caps. I wish I could purchase them by the gross - I'm really that bad. Within a couple of weeks of getting a new Tamron lens, I had, of course, lost the lens. Since the lens still had that new glass smell, though, I was reluctant to just get a generic cap for it and ruin the aesthetic, so I purchased this cap. Since it's Tamron, I find it fits well, although for some reason, I don't think it's as easy to get on as the one that came with the lens. Sometimes I have to make a couple of tries, which always makes me paranoid I'm going to scratch the glass. So far, though, so good. 4I ordered two! I ordered two, one to use and one to lose. Keeping track of these are hard on vacation walking with a heavy camera on my body. They are easy to lose. So buy extras! That has saved me. 5It's a lens cap Snaps on the 72mm lens. Stays on okay. Protects the lens and lens filter from getting scratched when carrying around. It's a little annoying when going to take photos though. The very reason it works so well to protect the lens, may prevent me from snapping a photo immediately. This is especially true if I go into absent minded auto-pilot mode. I catch myself trying to fire a picture right after removing the camera from the bag. Fortunately removing is quick and very easy. Push the tabs in to release. Shove the cap into the bag or my pocket and I am good to go. Then when I am done remember to put the cap back on. If not, then at least there are replacements, even if they are priced a little higher than I'd like. That said, it's a lens cap. Fits the Tamron lens just like the original. Now that I found the original weeks after I got this one, I have a back up cap. I feel less anxiety knowing I have two of these for my lens. 5Great Design for a Lens Cap I had a lens cap just like this one but lost it on a trip to Italy. This design, with the release in front, allows you to remove and replace the lens cap from a long lens without removing the hood. This makes it more likely that you will actually use the lens cap when you're not shooting, a very good idea. The only downside is that it's difficult to use one of the stick-on "keepers" that allow the cap to remain attached to the lens even when not on. For me, not a big deal since I had the lens for 5 years before I lost the cap. It is, however, a consideration. 5Perfect replacement After losing my original Tamron lens cap on vacation, this was a necessity. It feels slightly different from the original, and slightly easier to grip. It's a perfect fit on my 18 - 270 mm zoom lens, and easy to work with. The cap's design allows you to grip it from the edges, which is easiest, or by pinching the releases near the center. This makes it possible to attach and detach the lens cap while the hood is on. A clever design, and a nice cap. This is a MUST HAVE if you lost your original. Good price for OEM replacement, too. 5
