Customer Reviews

Great design except for the magnets.I had two other Dux cases by STM before I bought this one, so I was expecting a high quality product. I use the Apple Pencil all the time, so I wanted a case that would not only protect my iPad Pro but also safely keep the pencil with the iPad. This case had the best design I could find for holding and protecting the pencil, protecting the iPad, and providing multiple viewing angles for the iPad. As an architect, I travel a fair amount with my iPad including visits to construction sites. This case gives me a sense of security in taking my valuable iPad to a variety of environments. The one drawback, which cost at least two stars for me, is the weakness of the closure magnets. My previous two STM Dux cases have very strong magnets that not only hold the cover closed very securely but also hold the flap in the open position as a stand for the iPads. This new one has much weaker magnets compared to the previous models. The magnets do not hold the cover closed as flat and secure as the previous models. The change in the magnets is most noticible when I position the iPad with the low angle for typing. The cover tends to slide around, and really doesn t work when holding it in my lap like I could with the older models. The weight of the case and the iPad overcomes the magnet connection, and the whole thing flops over. I find myself often having to adjust the cover while typing. I ve been using this cover for about 6 months, and I don t plan on changing it. The overall design, features and function are enough for me to live with the weaker magnetic closure.3Good choice for non-keyboard usersThis is far sturdier than the options available to me at the Apple store where I purchased my iPad and thus worth the extra effort of ordering it online. I skipped on buying a keyboard, since I use my 12.9 primarily for photo editing. The case comes with a built in slot to hold an Apple pencil, adjusts into an easel, and, most importantly, offers excellent protection for the device its housing. Update: my one objection is that unlike my case/keyboard for my 9.7 iPad, this case doesn't comfortably fold back against itself. All in all, a few weeks later, I am still pleased.4Manufacture problems on new cases.Manufacture problem. Flap started to peel after 2 days of use. The flap peeled just from opening the case, the ipad has been on a desk just a desk something like that didn't happen with my ipad air 2 stm case, even after a year.I paid almost twice for this case because i imported it to Colombia, so am really disappointed of STM actual quality.Edit 25/10/19: Customer Service wont respond any e-mail.Edit 31/10/19: They wont respond to my e-mails, they are just ignoring them.1THE CASE for your iPad! No question. Long time user, this model is better than the previous.Best looking and protective iPad case. Bar none. I have had many cases and a few iPads - starting with the iPad 1 years ago. Many many cases of all types and prices. I'm cheap, but my iPad is not. This case is worth the money. There is a wide rim of quality, dense, shock absorbing, rubber to encase your iPad Pro 9.7 - and the Apple Pencil. There is a raised ridge around the screen too so if it's dropped face down no impact directly to the screen - but no loss of screen space. The rubber is firm and not the kind that loses integrity over time with being handled and age, plus it doesn't get tacky sticky. The cover flap is protective as well, with a magnet to keep it secure. And you can see the pretty thorough the back which is plastic, scratch resistant, but not thin or brittle - seems like plexiglass. You won't stress or damage the iPad or case to put on or take off the case.Of course there are openings for every port and speaker! Volume buttons are covered and stiff, which I prefer for the protection it provides. If you carry your iPad everywhere, in book bags, etc. this is the case. If you don't carry your iPad around much, it's likely overkill as far as price.5Difficult for young kids (and me!)Very nice feeling case with pleasing appearance, seems like good protection, and it's pretty much the ONLY reputable company that has included a place to put the pencil! I don't know why it's so difficult to have all those things, but for whatever reason these guys are there only ones really doing it besides Chinese vapor brands. That said, I had to dock a star because it's a huge pain to get it to stand up, and near impossible for the kindergartner we bought it for (she can do it, but it takes time and her teacher is probably going to be particularly displeased at that!) I'm not even sure it's something I'd want to hassle with though! I'm probably going to get myself an iPad and pencil too (it's slicker than I thought) and I've been trying to decide what *I* would do for a case - I do really like the look and feel of this case, but honestly I'm pretty sure I'd partially mutilate it to add functionality. I'll probably cut the front cover/stand off since it's such a pain to use, then afix a simple flip out kick stand to the back. I guess you could just affix a kickstand and leave the cover too - I might do that since it feels so nice4Nearly perfect, and the best iPad Pro case outI'm not a fan of impact protection, but I hadn't found any iPad cases that had a sturdy stand that folded backward. I dont like the tri-folds, and many of the origami styles out now are cheap and flimsy. This one folds back and has both magnetic support and a little ridge for sturdiness. It also holds an Apple Pen, has some decent corner drop protection, and a more robust screen protection once closed. I'd like something smaller, since I'm not the type that flings my iPad all over the place, but the one I liked most doesn't exist anymore (no longer in production)... this is my new favorite. All ports are open and with easy access... with one exception, the power button on top. They is VERY poorly designed and you must press it very specifically for it to work. You'll be accessing Siri versus taking screen shots until you master the new button engagement ;) This fix this one flaw and it would be a perfect case.5Great case! I used this same case for my ...Great case!I used this same case for my iPad Air 2, so I knew I had to get one for my iPad Pro when the time came. This a case for regular, general use. It s a great, sleek case for adults and teens to use to keep their device safe.I would not use it for a child or a teen who may toss it in a book bag and toss that book bag in a bus seat or accidentally put books in a bag on top of it. I d recommend a sturdier case if extreme durability is what you need. This does protect from drops. I put it in a bag with cords, my personal laptop, work laptop, and maybe a few books. It s durable, but not teen tornado level of durability. I like to put a decal on the back of my iPad, so this allows me to still show off my design.5Best Case Yet!I searched quite a bit and bought 2 other cases but was still not satisfied so I decided to take a chance on this one. The STM Dux is fantastic! It provides great protection but adds no bulk at all. My favorite part is that the iPad Pro sits directlyin the case as rubber bumpers but nothing covers any portion of the screen. It is a little heavier than the other cases I tried but it is so sleek that I don't notice the weight at all. Because of the way it stands, I use a Logitech stand alone bluetooth keyboard for those times that I have power work to do Excellent purchase and I highly recommend it if you are looking for a protective case without a built in keyboard.5As good as it gets for the iPad Pro 11" (2018) with a slight wrinkle.I am not new to STM, I had one of their cases for my iPad 3 and it was incredibly well made and protective. When I traded in the iPad 3 it came out of the case and looked like new, amazing for a device with daily use for many, many years. With this experience in mind I immediately sought an STM offering for the new iPad Pro 11" and found there were few options. Many case manufacturers seemed to be late to the party for this iPad model including STM. I waited for a month for the STM Dux Plus case to become available - it was in their online catalog but unavailable until early May.As far as the case itself is concerned, after trying 3 other manufacturers I can confidently say this is the best one - it holds the Apple Pencil in place securely and provides ample overall protection for the iPad itself.I am pleased mostly, however, I find the cover will occasionally not shut off the iPad when it is closed making it necessary to double check if the unit is shutting off when the cover closes. I do have a very early version of the case but it seems this should not matter...thus 4 and not 5 stars. I wonder what STM has to say about this?If you are looking for a "daily driver" case for your iPad Pro the STM Dux Plus is worthy of your consideration.4Solid Case - Weak StandLet me just say that there are some things I really like about this case. I was hoping it d be the one I was looking for, however, it falls short for a couple reasons. The protective and aesthetic aspect is quite nice. It looks good and seems well made. The cover fits nicely into the back case when closed. The pencil is held in place by soft rubber with space around the tip as to not damage it. It pops out easily with one hand. The reason I took 2 stars off is because first the magnetic clasp is difficult to open due to it being so flat. It s a nice design quality but there is nothing to grab onto to lift it. I took a half star off for this as I could live with it. I took 1.5 stars off because of the stand which I feel is as important as the protective quality of a case. It s almost useless. It s designed to flip around the back and connect magnetically. Before you do this though, you have to make sure each side of the stand fits into these little plastic grooves on the back that hold it in place. I found that even after I cautiously performed this task, the stand would easily fall out of the grooves and my iPad would collaspe. I don t know why other people aren t mentioning this. I will be sending mine back.3
