    StarTech I think I love you!I've bought numerous cables made by StarTech over the last 4 or 5 years and I'm lovin' em! This particular offset cable is a great for anyone who, like me, has bent or broken a cable's connecter because of a single small drop of their phone while charging it. The enemy in this situation is "leverage". But because this cable only comes out around a half inch or so from the connecter and then immediately makes a 90 degree turn, if you were to drop your phone or tablet connecter side down there's a lot less leverage put on it. Don't misunderstand me because this cable is not invincible so there's still is a chance it can bend BUT it's much less likely to ruin your cable after just a small fall. This cable is made very sturdy but a couple of my older cables for one reason or another just weren't performing like I remembered. Now that's when cable's lifetime warranty came into play. I just went to STARTECH.COM, got their support number from the very top of the page and gave them a call. After just a couple prompts I was connected to a friendly and professional person who walked me through the very quick and simple process, answered all my questions and concerns and were very eager to please. It literally could not have been any easier. Shortly after, they emailed me a shipping label and some simple instructions in "plain english". The turn around time was around 8 to 10 business days which was surprising fast. Best of all they covered the shipping both ways. From my personal experiences I can honestly say that their customer support was and is unrivaled. Only wish I could remember who it was that originally referred me to StarTech so I could thank them.5A perfect fit for a unique applicationRecently we got rid of our landline home phone and switched to a cell phone. Since it is used as a home phone, it just sits on the refrigerator connected to our Panasonic Link-2-Cell phone set (it connects to the base via Bluetooth and the the four cordless Panasonic handsets work using the cell phone line just as they did when we had a landline). To accommodate this setup we purchased a stand: Adjustable Cell Phone Stand, Lamicall iPhone Stand : [UPDATE VERSION] Cradle, Dock, Holder For Switch, iPhone 8 X 7 6 6s Plus 5 5s 5c charging, Accessories Desk, all Android Smartphone - Black. We like the stand, but since it sits up high on the refrigerator it must be tilted downward. This caused a normal, straight micro-USB cable to be pinched and restricted movement of the stand. This 90 micro-USB cable was just what we needed for this setup. The end fits in the cell phone case without a problem.5If you need a right-angle micro-usb cable, this is a very good one.To use my phone in a stand in my car, I have to use a right-angle micro-usb cable. The one I had been using disappeared at a car-wash, and I needed a new one badly. (Sorry Amazon, but I haven't had it long enough to rate its durability.If I think to do so, I'll come back in a year and do that...)It works just as well as any of the other micro-usb cables I have and I'm entirely pleased with it. I also picked up a shorter version to use in the charging station on my computer desk's top. It seems to be just as well-made as this one.The finish on the product is good, and both connectors fit snugly (and not too much so) into the respective female micro usb connector ports.I would recommend this cable to family, friends, and co-workers, and I would not hesitate to buy it aggain.5Poor current capabilitiesThe 2-meter cable was purchased because Startech is the only manufacturer I could find that offered a right-angle (down) micro-USB connector. This configuration was desired to allow a more aesthetically pleasing installation of a windshield-mount Qi wireless charger. After testing, it turns out the Startech cable only allows approximately 50% of the current flow provided by any other cable manufacturer. The amount of current passed by this cable is so low that the Qi charger cannot provide enough of a "signal" to charge the phone.If you install "Ampere" from the Google Play market, it will show the voltage and current provided by the charger, as well as the charging state of the phone. Using the Startech cable, the phone couldn't go into charging mode (although the Qi charger was detected). Ampere indicated either "no Charge" or "Discharging", never "Charging".I tried another 6ft cable from another manufacturer (no right-angle connector) and got good results. FYI, the charger is a RAVPower 24W 4.8A Dual USB Car Charger with iSmart Technology for iPhone 6S iPad Samsung Galaxy LG Nexus Motorola Blackberry Nook External Batteries and More - Black and works very well. I have also used a 12V-5V USB down-converter at 3A. The Qi charger works very well with any other USB cable (even a very thin retractable cable).On the off-chance that a shorter cable from Startech could perhaps operate the charger, I have ordered a 1-meter cable. I will update this review once I have tested.EDIT: Just tried the 1-meter cable with the same results. Avoid this brand of cable. Either they are using inferior-grade copper, or the conductors are smaller than what is available in even the least-expensive generic USB cables.1Works great with ALL our phones, even tablet!we have a couple of stands for use with our cell phone. problem with that is the design made it impossible to charge while in the stands. this cable being designed differently enabled me to charge while on their respective stands. it is a perfect design, a great fit.as to quality i found no defects whatsoever. i read where one person wrote in their review that their cable 'couldn't carry sufficient power to charge their phone?" to begin with the cable does NOT matter in this respect so long as it is not damaged. what matters is the watts, amps from your charger. i swap cables all the time and the only time it might matter is when using USB 3.0 or higher. our phones use the old USB standard so again this cable will not change how much juice goes from your power adapter to your phone and or tablet.i use mine with a moto z, my wife a moto x and all charge just fine. i also am able to use this cable paired with the amazon power adapter which came with our fire hd tablets, again zero problems.5Useful Design with a Fatal FlawItem arrived quickly and the product has a quality feel about it, but it has some fatal flaws. The manufacturer states the device can be used to charge a variety of things, but this only half the story. This cable reduces a 2.5 AMP output to about 1A and some devices may never charge while in use. Some people claim their devices charge just as quickly, but I purchases several of these cables for some projects and not a single one of these cables meets its necessary use. I believe these people are misinformed or the cables I received have different conductors.I would only purchase this product again if you're looking to power a very low energy device like a digital camera or have a really specific use in transporting data that doesn't require the full speed (480 MBPS).2Perfect everything! !Order with confidence, perfect for my needs, unique design slightly different from the other choices. I needed a left angle that was designed to clear my armor king phone case when connected.Behold, perfect fit, clears my phone case with a little room to spare.Ordering a righr angle for when im on the couch.So if you rest your phone on your belly as i do and your tired of breaking recharge cords as I was then get this cord now.Pay attention to which direction you want the cord to flow, left angle will feed the cord to the left, right angle will feed the cord to the right.Perfect everything!52m Micro USB Cable - A to Up Angle Micro BLooking for 90 degree USB cables is more difficult then I expected since just searching for 90 degrees gives WAY more results left and right angles and not very meany up and down angles, but once again Startech has come to my rescue with their "Hard-to-find made easy" slogan!I bought these so I could hang a rechargeable USB battery pack on my bike and route this up to my phone on my handle bars and this works perfectly. It is plenty long enough since I bought the 6" long one, is not too stiff and even with the GPS and screen on the whole time allows enough charge to pass through from the battery pack to the phone to keep it fully charged.Some lighter weight USB cords I have used before are such a small gauge that they don't pass enough amperage to keep up with the discharge only slowing how quickly the phone dies but this one works perfectly and allows the phone to charge up even while under heavy use. (this also depends on the phone and the battery pack you use though)I wanted a cable that turned 90 degrees down from my phone when plugged in to help lower the chances of me leaning on it or putting pressure on it possible breaking the phone and this one does that without making a bulky 90 degree head at the connection which would kind of eliminate the advantage of it if it was sticking out as far as a cable that plugs straight in.Make sure to look closely at the pictures and think carefully about what angle you want this to plug in at since they can go 90 degrees down OR 90 degrees up because picking the wrong one for your device would make things worst!It also works for data transfer as well, but I only use them for charging.(Sorry for low quality pictures, my phone was in the picture so I had to find something else to take pictures with.)5Minimal Extrusion--Maximum FunctionFinally, found a right/left angle USB that stays put. I am bedridden and my bed-table acts as my work desk so there is not very much desk/work space on the table. With the computer mounted on an articulating arm above my bed, it frees a lot of room on the table for my keyboard, mouse, and desk accessories, but still no good place for my two tablets to stand. All three devices have a different function that I use all the time when I am home. Using the right/left angle plugs gives a lower/cleaner profile and looks a lot neater and easier to tuck around the side of the device.This USB works well on all of my android devices, my HTC, Kindle, Samsung, Motorola, and portable scanner. Speed is great since when I am at home I use a home security data hog app around the clock, that only on internal power would drain the device in half a day rendering the app useless. But this USB has always kept the device charged when other USB cables failed.5Lies, Incorrect Description, Wrong Photos... It Works ThoughThe cable used in these wires is labeled as a 30 AWG single pair (data lines) with 24 AWG power carriers.I NEEDED 2.5-3A carrying capacity because I was building an on/off switch for my Raspberry Pi 3B+ with touchscreen. All the other RPi cables with on/off buttons are TRASH. The button cannot hold 2.5A even if the wiring used in them can.That aside, this cable claims it uses 24AWG for power transmission. The power wires in this cable are 26AWG at best and closer to 28AWG. The cabling used by Startech to make these is falsely labeled and Startech has not checked the gauge of the wires themselves. I know this because I had to strip off the jacket on the power cables to make my RPi switch.The other issue is that what they have labeled as a "right angle" and "left angle" connector does not match up with what that actually means. I ended up having to buy a second cable which they call here a "right angle" connector that is listed everywhere else, as a left angled connector. That's fine if you have the money, time and patience.Currently my switch is wired up and providing enough power from a 5v 3.5A wall wart power supply. So it works to supply enough voltage to power hungry RPi setups. My guess is that it's just barely enough.The cable itself is interesting in that it has a copper drain wire running alongside the outer mesh jacket to help with EMI getting into the data wires. At 30AWG the data wires are going to need all the protection they can get.3
