Stanley - poor workmanship and poor packaging. Ordered two of these. One was inoperative. I had to open it up and solder a bus wire to the breaker circuit board. It had not been attached and soldered at the factory. Poor workmanship and no quality inspection done. On both units the packaging was insufficient and the mounting ears at the end of each unit were bent and partially broken. One had a plastic protector on one of the ends (that end was OK). The other ends did not have their plastic end-protectors and they got bent and partially broken in shipment. The product itself was good, but the workmanship and the packaging were very very poor. 1Excellent Form Factor I've got 4 of these installed in my workshop, house, and garage and they work great!Although there are lots of outlets like this available, this one has several features that make it easy to use and install:1) The exposed screw holes on both ends are a huge bonus and make mounting these strips a breeze. Just 4 screws and a couple of minutes, and it's done - which is much easier than dealing with mounting brackets since I don't care if the screws are visible.2) The outlets themselves are perfectly spaced for just about any application. I know there are other surge protector strips with more outlets; but, most of those end up being unusable because they're too close together.3) The direction of the outlets is also correct for my usage. I'm not sure why other strips orient the outlets sideways since it seems like an up/down orientation makes a lot more sense.Personally, I'm a bit surprised there don't appear to be any other surge strips with these functions.Regardless, the price is right on these so I'm not complaining. We haven't had any reliability issues either, and they look great once they're mounted. 5If you only need 15A it is perfect. So it is not. Almost perfect but the 15A breaker is a killer for shop use. You want to use a saw and shop vac at the same time? Forget it. There might be 15A circuits somewhere but I don't have any. One lowly 20A house circuit will run the same saw and shop vac plus a stand fan and a work light without complaint. I took it apart to change the fuse but there was no hope there. It is hardwired in. I dismounted it and stuck it in my wife's sewing room. It has no place is a workshop. Stanley should know better. Now I do. 2Disappointed I ve used Stanley before Disappointed my bar/ surge protector came with a non functioning power outlet I ve tried plugging multiple devices but there s no power all other remaining outlets work fine. 1Arrived smashed... not safe to use. Arrived smashed, I m pretty sure this would be a huge electrical fire hazard... don t you? 1Stanley power strip is ideally for workbench. Lack of mounting tabs and screws. I m an electrical engineer for many years and all of this test results were based on my own opinion. Package is lack of mounting tabs and screws. You would need to use your own screws or if you want to mount it, you need to find yourself a mounting tabs in the store. The Stanley 31610 SurgeMax Pro power strip provides nine overload-protected outlets right on your workbench. I use this extra-long power strip behind a set of shelves that hold power tools and a variety of drill batteries. It provides adequate room between outlets. I love everything about this power strip. It is indeed rated 400 joules. It has made it much easier and way more convenient than having a bunch of extension cords all over the floor. They are metal housing case, well made, and easy to mount in a couple various ways and they have a lighted master on/off switch. The spacing of the receptacles is perfect for battery charging tools. It handles transformer plugs without crowding the adjacent receptacles. The Stanley power strip is all about saving power and is designed exclusively for use with office components such as desktop computers, displays, printers, and desk lamps, that tend to draw power when not in use. It shouldn't be used with things like power tools, space heaters, coffee makers, or any other household appliances. It provides 125V power to standard electronic equipment via 9 outlets, the outlets are spaced 2 and 10/16 inches center-to-center along the 37-inch housing, allowing enough room for most AC adapters and transformers. There really is no reason not to get a surge protector. Whether you're just looking to add more outlets, or want to add a layer of protection between your gear and the outside world, you'll eventually want to buy a surge protector. You're always going to need more outlets. You'll undoubtedly add more gear without necessarily getting rid of your current gear. I'm not saying that if you think you need 9 outlets get a 12 outlets is probably a good investment. I also have a 12 outlet power strip for my garage. I would recommend the AXTRA 12-outlets power strip for office and school environment. 4Loose outlets. The outlets don't really snugly hold in plugs, especially two pronged cords. Makes the entire power strip feel cheap, but it will have to do.I do however like the number of outlets and the form factor of this power strip. Its a shame the rest kind of sucks. 3Arrived bent Arrived bent on the corner of one side where the mounting is. 1Poorly packaged Product arrived damaged. One end cap was not on so the metal was bent to a point that the end cap will not fit on it at all. Also, it arrived later than the promised 2-day shipping s. 2This Outlet Strip Made My Toolbox More Functional! This outlet strip was absolutely the perfect addition to my toolbox!I've been on and off looking for these, however I wasn't too set on spending 40 bucks on one with the same length.I came across this one and figured it's a reputable name and being that I own some other Stanley products' which have proved well, I decided on it and bought this one.Overall, this was a very good buy. 5
