Customer Reviews

great productI was very unsure when I fist got this. Most locks when you press the button the center lock rotates to allow it to be inserted into the slot. This unit pressing the button retracts the outer pins and the center does not rotate. This was what I hated at first and is not what I love. You can have your code set to unlock then when you go to put it in you really don't even have to push the button. Put it in and twist. Once it is in position it clicks into place. You then jumble the code and good to go. Works wonderful, I have bent and twisted and the insulation is holding up fine. Would definitely purchase again.5You Need a Tiny Screwdriver to Set the ComboYou get to choose the color so that's nice. This Sendt is similar to a genuine Kensington lock in design and ruggedness. You do need a tiny screwdriver to set the combination which many people won't have. You can get a kit of small screwdrivers at many dollar stores. You don't need a high-quality screwdriver here - most people will never need that screwdriver again. The lock is easy to use. The plastic-coated wire is 6' long (too long in my opinion). As always, the thing wants to unwind and straighten itself out when stored in your laptop bag which is annoying. I have another lock made by Kensington that wants to coil itself back up which is much better.4Good lock of its typeNice quality version of this type of product to prevent casual theft (no product of this type will prevent a professional or someone with a bolt cutter or a saw or drill and some time). Cable swivels on lock to allow best positioning. Easy to set code. Makes a very satisfying click when it locks. At least for my slot, the code location ends up parallel with the desk, which makes it hard to read, but I just set my code based on the numbers in the next column which are easier to read. Suggestion to manufacturer: Make the code column 45-60 degrees from the horizontal.5Very good for the priceI'm using these in a retail store to secure laptop displays. This seems sturdy, and the lock seems solid. The numbers have a positive click when rotating them. Some combination cables are too easy to reset, leading to accidental resetting to an unknown combination. This one isn't difficult at all, but impossible without a small flat head screwdriver. Just push the screw in, turn a quarter turn, set the new combination, then turn the screw back. The only issue I foresee with this, is the T shaped end. Some slots on laptops, especially the really thin "ultrabook" or "sleekbook" types have very little room to the sides of the slot. This one MIGHT not fit in some of those. The T isn't as wide as some I've seen though, so it may not be an issue at all.I have some of the Targus Defcon locks too. They don't need as much room to the sides of the slot. The build quality seems similar, if not a bit better, with these, and the Targus ones are about $10 more on average. I'm happy with these.edit: I've been using several of these for some time now, and I still like them very much. I've found the easiest way to lock them is dial in the code, then simply stick them in the slot, press, and turn. Make sure you turn in the direction so the numbers are easy to read, or you'll have to turn the laptop upside down or something to dial in the code. Also make sure it is centered in the slot, and that both pins go in the slot, or it isn't locked. Despite my wondering about how well they would work on sleekbooks and ultrabooks, they have fit every one I've tried. No worries there any more.5Sturdy. Easy to use. Perfect solution for more than just theft.I am very thankful that a lock such as this exists, and I'm even happier that it's so easy to use. I was able to set the lock to my desired combination without having to call on my IT kids to do it for me! And that's quite a feat! I am now able to secure my middle schooler's laptop in my living room, within my sight lines, so that he cannot sneak out of bed at night and spend hours watching Netflix instead of sleeping. And the cord is plenty long enough for me to place it wherever I choose! I do wish that the combination did not have to be entered in order to lock it up. But that's a small inconvenience to suffer to be able to avoid a boatload of other trouble.5Works well. Easy to read the numbersOverall easy to read and use, Had to wiggle it in the Kensington slot on my laptop a little to engage but it seems to work fine. Read the instructions as you need to rotate the lock in the Kensignton slot to engage. For me, the white numbers on black background are much easier to read vs the black numbers on shiny silver dials I had with another brand,4Good for the Money, Beware of the Default CombinationThe price for what you get is fair. This can definitely help prevent a run-through robbery (common in my neighborhood), though anyone with any kind of cutters or time can crack this thing open, but that's nearly all security cables. My biggest warning is to take note of the combination it comes with. Mine must have been a return as the combination was NOT set to 0000. This resulted in me permanently locking it to my computer, and then spending an hour watching videos on how to recognize the feeling of tumblers clicking as I worked out the original combination so I could change it to my own.3Worked Okay, but not ideal for my HPThis worked out okay -- I felt much more comfortable leaving my laptop in my room, secured with this cable. The one problem I found was that I could not secure my laptop and have it plugged in at the same time. My HP's power cord plugged in too close to the slot and the lock was too big to fit both in that close. So, I would have to unlock when I wanted to be able to plug in, and then remember to lock it back up when I left.3Wonderfull 'FIT' and amazing style!Beautiful red color, wonderful fit, [especially with the rubber 'O-ring' that is integrated into this lock and the way it seals into a nice tight fit onto the computer], and amazing style, with nice looking and easy to use combination number lock. I also think the cost is an excellent deal for the consumer; and to have some protection on your laptop/notebook computer from just being picked up and stolen when you need to leave it for a minute or so is good, and the nice red color of this I think is helpful. /// {Please, see my attached picture of this, (lock), connected to a notebook computer.} *This is the first review I have written in well over a year; I say that, so as to impress upon you that, I LIKE THIS LOCK; also I'm not receiving any money for this review and I'm not associated with the company selling this.5Mostly great, hard to lock in and remove at timesMost of the locks like this that I've used before - the locking T turns when you unlock them. This one you have to turn the whole mechanism to remove it or lock it into place, which I have found to be difficult at times. I really wanted the combination lock so that I didn't have to worry about losing the key.4
