Customer Reviews

This works perfectly for my use case, which is ...This works perfectly for my use case, which is running a x4 dual nic in the pcie "slot" side. The package came with the mini pcie card and the pcie slot card. The short cable was installed. I had to remove and replace with the long cable. No problem. And my system required the 1/2 size card on the mini pcie side. No problem snapping the full length card in half. Also came with screws to attached to mini pcie connector. I didn't need them as I was able to reuse the screws from the previous (and now unused) mini pcie card. 4New life to early model iMacs without USB3 or Thunderbolt portsI was able to modify my iMac 27 late 2009 model by removing the Apple wireless card and inserting this in its place, wound the cable through a pre-cut opening around the vent area that I had made with my Dremel. This unit sticks out the back of the iMac at the top and is powered with a 12v PS and I have an USB3 PIC-e card plugged in. Since the original iMac's (models starting with brushed metal covering) did not contain USB3 or Thudnerbolt ports, this was one easy option that gives me at least three times the throughput vs the existing usb2 and firewire ports.Notice the throughput for the mSata port where the Apple Wireless card was has a rated value of 2.5 Mbps. vs. traditional Sata III at 6Mpbs. 5Set my PC on fire.As soon as I installed it into my PC it caught on fire. It was a fresh install with correct parts, nothing else plugged into it. As far as I can tell one of the connector pins was defective (you can see it's not quite right in the picture.) If you buy this (and I suggest you dont) check your pins ahead of time because this little guy has the ability to burn down your house. 1It works, but know its limitations...Well, it worked. Used it to interface a GTX 960 with my laptop. Had troubles trying to get the graphics card to power the laptop's internal display properly, but using an external display, the GPU performed well. This is of course, a vast improvement over the internal graphics of the laptop, but still bottlenecked by the fact that it's only a PCI-e 2.0 x1 interface. Still, this was a proof of concept before spending money on more expensive adapters. Tried it with a couple of different laptops from MSI and Clevo and it worked. I'm hoping to try it with a couple of other laptops later. Main idea was to turn an older laptop into a low-mid (usable) gaming machine to leave at my brother's house so I don't have to lug my main rig back and forth. Also I tried to switch to one of the other cables that came in the package and inserted it wrong. This resulted in losing that PCI-e lane until I removed power and battery from the laptop for some time, then it started working again (even the wifi module I normally installed in that slot wouldn't work after rebooting until I removed all power and gave it some time to sort itself out). 4Don't trust the "Package Contents"Buyer beware: What is pictured is not what I received. The picture describes a full-length mini-PCIe adapter (that can be cut down to half-length), with both a 15cm and 25cm cable, along with a molex-to-berg power cable, mounting screws, and a screwdriver. What I received is a mini-PCIe adapter that has already been broken down to half-length, along with only the 25cm cable. The power adapter and mounting screws are nowhere to be found. The static bag containing this came obviously pre-opened.I think I have enough of the operative parts to make this work, but I now will at a minimum have to purchase a full-to-mini PCIe adapter (as the device I'm working with only has full-length mounting holes.) 1works!this worked well for me. I used it to add a usb3 card to a m-itx motherboard. Worked without any issues. It came with various length cables which helped with placement of the card in the micro case. Glad they make things like this. 4Works really well with a Gigabyte brix!I had to remove my wifi card from the brix, but it proved very doable. The ribbon doesn't get damaged as the case has an exact spacing where the ribbon is located (as if they knew I would use this tool).I'm running a Gigabyte GT 1030 from the ribbon just fine! Fluid 720 and some 1080p gaming, finally!Excellent for folding or Bitcoin mining.Pcie 2.0 1x speed equals 500MB/s, not bad for most older games including crysis. 5I needed to put an Intel NIC in my computer ...I needed to put an Intel NIC in my computer but had no pcie connectors open. I didn't use the motherboards wireless or Bluetooth. This device allowed me to unplug the wireless card and mount the new NIC in an empty slot and run the wires between. It worked flawlessly although the long cable could have used a few more inches. In order to fit the card in with the given cable length, I had to mount the new card in upside down... 5Painless way to add a pci-e card.My Intel Atom mini-ITX board in my router/firewall only has one PCI slot, already filled with ethernet ports. That particular board has an orphaned onboard video controller with poor driver support, not playing well with Linux or BSD. I thought I'd have to replace the motherboard, but discovered that its mini (micro?) pcie slot could be adapted to connect to a regular PCI-E card with this clever bit of hackery.Installation was a snap, the included longer connector cable was a lifesaver, allowing me to route past the network card, provisions for extra power via a disk power connector allows for power-hungry cards, the device and video card came up first try, and I've had absolutely no problems with the system since.Note that mini PCI-E slots only have a single channel (I believe, at least mine is single channel), so you can't hope to strap in some blazing fast video or thunderbolt controller, but this can solve a host of problems in a small build that just needs a little more I/O. 5Works well but has some design flawsWorks as described. Converted my mPCIE on an MSI B85i to a PCIE 1x slot. The card I have in it is an Intel x520-DA2 which is only PCIE 2.0 but the card shows that it is running at PCIE 2.0 1x speeds (I know weird configuration, just using it get by for now - I do not recommend running a 10GbE NIC in a PCIE 1x slot but it's much better than the onbaord NIC for now).Minus 2 starts for poor design choices. The 4 pin power connector is on the wrong side. If you were to install this into a case the 4 pin power connector is pointing toward the back/mounting bracket leaving very little room for mounting which forces the wires into a tight space. It does come with 2 ribbons one longer than the other but both are too short for my usage. The B85i placed the half-height mPCIE slot above the CPU socket at the top of the board so even with the longest ribbon this adapter cannot reach the first mounting slot in the case, let alone the 3rd slot which is needed if a GPU is installed. This is one of the few mPCIE to PCIE adapters I could fine so I am glad that it works. Its also really nice that it doesn't need an external power supply like ones intended for adding a GPU to a laptop. Overall I am pleased but I will have to experiment with some longer ribbons to see if I can properly mount my NIC. 3
