The best way to give access to help when you're locked inside your house. If you live alone and cannot reach the door to let help in, like EMS, you need one of these. You stick a copy of your house keys in, set a 4 digit code and hang this by the long and strong hasp somewhere within the reach of people who are trying to help you. I had been concerned about falling and being unable to open the door to help. I have massive iron security doors and feared the Fire Department hacking them to bits to get to me. I was a problem looking for a solution. On Prime Day, this lock was a featured sale item, and I promptly ordered it. I will give my combination to a couple of trusted people who might be around if I need them, and I can give the combination to 911 when I call for help. That way, I'll know they can reach me quickly and lock up my house afterwards. Whew! I feel better every day when I see this attached to the bars of my iron door.5Get the cheap one. After less than a year the lock box has stopped working. I am not able to punch in any numbers to get the front panel to open. I've had the protective cover on it the whole time and it gets used on average once a week, however, 2 weeks ago I was not able to get it open. The buttons are not registering that you're clicking them. I've tried just about everything I can think of to get it open and am unsure of how I'll even get it off my door! I'm disappointed that I purchased this style rather than the cheaper version.1Sturdy and Well Built! It's a Buy! A lock box is practical for more than real-estate agents. It works well for Airbnb, VRBO and other rental hosts. I have one in case I lose my keys or if I am out of town and need somebody to check my apartment. I wanted to set and change the combination on mine as it is never a good idea to keep the same combination. Although price is always a concern, quality is equally important in this case. I chose this key safe because the Master Lock brand is reputable. I didn t want a key safe from one of Amazon s questionable sellers. Ratings were also a factor. Four stars from over 300 customers seemed reasonable. I m quite pleased with the key safe and it serves its purpose. It comes with a small yellow key tool used to set the combination. If you lose it, you may use a screwdriver, a knife or a similar tool. Please see my video to see the ease of setting the combination. The key safe is easy to open and close. There is one design flaw that makes no sense. It comes with a small hook you put inside the box to hang the key. The hook is black and looks like part of the packaging. I almost threw it away. Without the hook, the keys are difficult to put in the box or to close. This is such an easy fix! Change the color of the hook to hot pink so it stands out or build it into the key safe. It makes no sense to provide a black, plastic hook that looks like part of the packaging. I am very happy with the lockbox and would give it five stars, but the black hook is so ridiculous, that we have to take half a star away. Sorry Master Lock! Call me when you change the key hook color.4$30 lock tainted with 3 cent screwsMaster Lock, Please tell me, why you would include a set of 3 cent screws with your 30 dollar lock? You do realize, don't you, that mounting it to a wall is expected for a Wall Mount Lock Box? I stripped the heads out of the screws provided in about 3 seconds. So I had to use my dremel to cut off the heads of the cheap screws and then use the vice grips to remove the remaining stud (there was still PLENTY of it sticking out to get a hold of). The lock itself seems to work fine (just got it today). As several other reviewers have pointed out, you select the digits you want in your combination but those digits can be entered in any order and still open the lock.Potential buyers, throw away the screws that come with the lock and use some quality screws in their place.2So a complex combination like 3241 is the same as 1234Worked as expected. You do have to understand that a combination can be entered in in any order. So a complex combination like 3241 is the same as 1234. It actually made me change the combination I planed on using. There is ample room for a house door key. It would recommend it.4Not perfect, but a very high quality lockExcellent quality. This is a good, solid lock. Like many others have mentioned, a flaw it has is it is easier to "pick" because once you set a combination, those numbers can be entered in any sequence to open it, making it easier to guess. I have the whole box hidden anyway and use it for an emergency house key. No matter how you use it, it's much better than just hiding a key somewhere without a lock of some sort. The only other flaw I've found, if you want to call it that, is you have to input the code each time you push down the lock release, so you have to input the code to open it, then have to input it again to close it. I can live with it, but it may be annoying to some. It is very easy to set and change the combination, and is very well made.4a couple major flawsI picked up this lock to act a little storage box for the keys to my safe. Overall, it does the job it was intended to do, I just wish it did so a bit better.Pros:>solid, durable construction. This thing is beefy, and you really feel like the box itself is solid>Mounting brackets for flush mounting to the wall (this is the current configuration I have it in now)>plastic cover for potential outdoor applicationsCons:>very small, was a bit tricky getting the keys in there.>hard to store keys in vertical mounting configuration. I ended up having to install magnets with some sticky-tak to attach the key rings to>code doesn't work how you think. You program a code by rotating the cylinders from the backside of the key panel with an included tool. But then, the order of the code doesn't matter. For example, let's say your code is "1-2-3-4", you don't actually have to enter the code "1-2-3-4", you could simply enter those numbers in any order and open the lock.>have to open the code not only to open the lock, but to close it again as well. This gets tedious fast.Like I said, overall it does the job. But I feel there's probably a better solution out there and will likely replace this one when I find said solution.3Adequate Keysafe, Easy to UseThis is a rugged and sturdy keyholder that can be secured to the house. There is a cover that hinges up over the keyboard to protect it from the elements. You can easily change the code frequently, which is a plus for me. It works as expected, you just have to remember a few key points:1 - if you mess up the code, you need to press the "Clear" button before trying again. This may sound stupidly obvious, but if someone pressed a key or two before you got there, you may not understand why your code isn't working.2 - the code must be entered before opening and before closing. The door will not close without the second entry of the code. A little annoying, but I can live with this.3 - the inside storage is narrower than it looks. A single key fits fine, but if you have a key on a keychain or two keys linked together, you might have to juggle them a bit in order to get them flat enough to close the door.My key is on a keychain, but a thoughtful addition to this safe is a small hole in the back of the compartment where you can attach a hook by securing it to the wall the unit is mounted on. Now the key hangs neatly inside and doesn't jam in the compartment when I'm trying to close it.A number of reviewers mention the fact that the code digits can be entered in any order. Yes, this is true. If this safe is guarding your bank vault, you may want to consider a different product. But I think most of us can be fairly confident that the odds of someone figuring out what our 4 to 6 digits are and plugging them in are fairly slim. They would also need to know this fact, and if they weren't reading reviews for this keysafe they may not know this anyhow. My guess is they could pop out a window much easier, it all comes down to motivation. If you're that worried, attach the safe somewhere obscure and they won't even know it's there. I'm happy with the product.5The combination is **not** sequence specific!?!So if you put in the combination 4213 and think your key is really secure, wrong!! The neighbor kid can walk over, type in 1234 and the door will pop right open!?! The reason is, the you only set which digits are in the combination but cannot specify the order!I'm really disgusted and regret buying this product. 0 stars out of 51Does it's job, but inside rusting (cover not weather proof) & Re-locking the Box is a painWe mounted this flat on the handrail outside our front door. The problem is with a horizontal mount, whenever it rains the water pools inside. When I open it, there are small pools of rust tinged water...not good as I suspect the insides are rusting away. This happens, even though we keep the cover shut. I would recommend a vertical mount and a location free of the elements (if possible). Also, I didn't think this would be a problem, but it actually is - after retrieving the key & unlocking the door, you must repeat the same process to reopen the lock box and return the key. The only way to avoid this is to keep the "arrow" key depressed while you simultaneously unlock the door...if the location of the door lock and lock box are more than an arm's stretch away, or you don't have both hands empty to hold the lock box button and unlock the door, you are out of luck! If you use the box frequently, this can get annoying. his would be much better if you could unlock the box, leave the box open, unlock the door, return the key, and then close the box and have it lock. *I highly recommend watching the video to learn how to change the code*3
