Customer Reviews

ALMOST returned them, glad I didn't! When I first got these, I found that one speaker was noticeably quieter than the other, and the bass was pretty much nonexistent. My husband spent hours with complicated software and an actual subwoofer trying to fix this, to no avail. Over time we figured out that we could balance the speakers by actually LOWERING the Windows volume and then adjusting the actual volume with the speakers themselves. Now, as for that bass that everyone keeps raving about, after all that work, all I needed to do was go into the speaker properties, select Equalizer, and then select Dance for absolutely perfect sound. Such a simple solution! I love them now and wouldn't dream of returning them. 5Power Beasts for Speakers!!! I love these little powerful beasts for speakers!!! Wow, they arrived extremely fast and on Super Bowl 50 Sunday Morning!!! Amazing, very early and great packaging;). Best money I have spent in a long time;) Thank you!!! 5Surprising Range.. Usable audio range from around 100hz to 13khz, which is pretty much perfect for anything you would use these for.Pretty loud for being USB powered.Plastic case is thick and has a good weight to it, it doesn't feel cheap, plastic does not flex. The rigid construction counters the fact that these speakers are relatively small, low powered speakers.Front face of the speaker, under the grill is a layer of foam as well as speaker gasket. The finish is fingerprint resistant. The cord is very long.Popped the front off to reveal the driverRecorded with: Moto G5 Plus @ 1080p60. Mic on G5 is a little tinny. 5Take It From an Audiophile As a point of reference, I own multiple pair of fairly high end speakers, including a pair of Paradigm S8 v3 speakers that are powered by nice DAC, pre-amp and mono-block power amps. Let's just say that I am fairy into sound. :-)For $30 these speakers are quite a pleasant surprise. I connected them to my Microsoft Surface device to get better sound, and I have to say that these are really great. I didn't expect a whole lot given that these are the price of a meal at a nice restaurant. These exceeded my expectations. They deliver respectable mid-range clarity with adequate high-end for such small / inexpensive speakers. The low-end is cute and adds a hint of bass that gives you just enough to appreciate the presence of low frequency on a track. If you're looking for an inexpensive, small pair of speakers to give you respectable full-range sound then look no further. For the money, they are definitely worth it.On a related note, if you are looking for a tablet PC then check out the Surface. I am IN LOVE with my Surface. It's fluid, fun and really well done. Skype on it blows me away. My friends tell me the A/V is better than on my Lenovo laptop, which is an order of magnitude more expensive and powerful.I digress. These speakers are good buy. Enjoy. 5The sound quality is nice for the price I've had this for over a year now, and it still works perfectly. The sound quality is nice for the price, and the volume can get quite loud, although I barely raise it beyond the lowest setting because I'm usually working in my room at night and the walls are pretty thin in my house.I didn't give it a full 5 stars because I wish there was a way to actually turn the speakers off. You basically have to just turn the volume all the way down until it's nearly silent. It's not really a problem, although sometimes the volume increases on its own because the knob turns on its own due to gravity (you have to turn it down for the volume to go up). Again, not the biggest issue since when that happens I just fiddle with the knob to reset it, which takes less than a millisecond. It also would've been nice to have a headphone jack, especially since my PC doesn't have an audio jack in the front. As a result, I have to use bluetooth if I want to use headphones of any kind.If those things don't really bother you, then I do recommend them. I'm getting new speakers only because my mother stole these for her classroom because she liked them so much and how loud they can get! 4Very Nice for the Small Price For the price I didn't expect too much, however they did deliver way more than I expected. It has a good balance of bass and sound. You can easily use the amplifier on your devices to change the sound. The led lights are a nice touch. A must buy if you are looking for something small and nice to compliment your computer. The aux cord and the USb cord are too close for my liking which I had a felling would happens so I also purchased the USB extension from Amazon basics. 4Very good for the price and size... Before I say anything about these speakers, I should point out that it's simply not realistic to expect a pair of speakers costing $25 to have a hi-fi sound or room filling sound.I got these speakers based on the overall positive feedback on Amazon and I wasn't disappointed. They have a very detailed sound with great clarity, perhaps a tad bit too bright for some people's taste. However, all that clarity and detail in the sound gives a nice boost to dull and flat sounding tracks. It also works great when listening to the speakers at low volumes. There's also depth to the sound, something I didn't notice when I first started to listen to the speakers. However, a little side-by-side comparison later on with a pair of Pioneer speakers revealed how one dimensional the Pioneer sounded in comparison. What's not so great about these speakers? First, there's not much in the way of bass at low volumes but, turn up the sound to moderate levels and they give out enough bass to make them sound energetic and dynamic. With that said, I did not test them with bass-heavy music or pushed them to see how loud they'd go before bottoming out. Second, the location of the volume control (in the back) is a bit inconvenient and there's no on/off switch if that matters to you.Last but not least, I got to listen to the following speakers and here's what I thought of them:Sony SRS-A3 External PC Speakers: Simply sounded awful to my ears.Pioneer USB Powered Computer Speakers (S-MM301): Same kind of clarity and openness as GoGrooves but they lacked the depth of sound I got from the GoGrooves.Creative Inspire T12 2.0 Multimedia Speaker System with Bass Flex Technology: Twice as expensive. Good amount of bass for their size but they sounded muffled compared to the GoGrooves and the vocals were a bit recessed for my taste. 4Good Sound, Good Price, Versatile Pros:- Good, clean looks.- LED is switchable on/off.- Removable grille.- Great sound for their size, price, and power supply (a USB port, .5-1amp max).Cons:- Amp hiss. The master speaker (the one the USB/audio cord stem from) is the Right channel. The amp hiss is only really noticeable/annoying if the speaker volume (not the source volume) is cranked high. Leaving the speakers set to about half volume and using the source to adjust the volume keeps it away and of course you don't hear the hiss at all when you have audio running through them. Not really any other cons for my purposes. The cords are about perfect in length for any average desk/computer setup...it might be a stretch to get them set up nicely on, say, a larger screen TV since the two speakers are bound together with a 3.5-4' cord.Do these have extremely intense bass? Of course not, but what do you want from a pair of $30 USB-powered speakers with 2.5" drivers? The bass is perfectly adequate for their size and price, so I won't call it a con like others. The highs are pretty prominent on these speakers, so a big piece of advice I can give is do a little shaping with your computer's EQ. Cut before you boost (subtractive equalization). That is, try knocking down the treble a bit to enhance the bass...this will keep your headroom higher while giving you the audible bass you want. Boosting the bass right away will just lead you to distortion at higher volumes.Overall, I'm pleased with these little speakers. They look good, sound good for the price, and are great general-use audio speakers. They can crank plenty loud...quite a bit louder than is comfortable for near-field listening without distorting. Which means they'd also be good to use in the kitchen, bathroom, or a small garage (use any USB charger to plug them into a wall outlet). Could also use them camping or such with a USB car charger...a lot less draw than using your vehicle's full audio system for some background campfire jams.Recommended.UPDATE:I opened my pair of these up by removing the passive radiator (2mm hex). The woofer magnets are stamped with a rating of 4ohm impedance and 5 watts. I was surprised to find that the passive radiators are even weighted. Not sure if they're actually "tuned" (I doubt it), but it's better than them not being weighted. Also, they stacked three small weight plates in the bottom of each speaker to give them the nice heft and stability they have. The amplifier housed in the Right speaker is expectedly tiny. 4Great for desktop computer or HDTV This review is a first impression based on just a couple days of use. So far, I'm delighted with these speakers. They sound good and they work great with my desktop computer. They are plenty loud enough for me and actually I have the volume control set near the minimum. I appreciate the USB power source because the speakers automatically turn on or off with my computer (although I haven't found any way to make them shut off for "sleep mode").Also, my HDTV has a powered USB connection, so I tried plugging in the GOgroove, speakers and voila: much-improved TV sound on a budget. I think it sounds best when I use both sound sources together, the TV built-in speakers and the GOgroove speakers. (Unfortunately the TV volume, mute, and sound mode controls don't affect the sound from the GOgroove speakers, but I suppose that could vary depending on the TV. Mine is a Samsung UN32D4000.)Here are some things you might want to know about these speakers:The wires measure 4 feet (right speaker to source) and 3 feet (right speaker to left speaker)The wires are permanently connected to the speakers. Each speaker enclosure has two passive woofers, one on each side of the box. There is no indication of which speaker is left or right side. There is no on/off switch but fortunately the volume control can take the speakers all the way down to zero sound. There is no power indicator light. The enclosures are basically smooth, no hooks or holes for wall mounting. The USB connection is for power only and there is a separate 3.5mm audio plug. The USB and audio plugs can be separated up to about 16 inches if you pull the wires apart. The volume control seems backwards to me: downward motion increases volume. Some reviews complain about a "continuous hum" when the speakers are on, but I think they're quiet enough. I don't notice any background noise unless I really try to hear it.The exposed woofers seem like they could be fragile, so I wouldn't want to use these speakers for a portable application. If needed, you can buy a USB Wall Adapter to allow plugging these into a wall socket. The speakers are made in China. 5Best Speakers under $75 These speakers have a great range and great sound. I'm hearing parts of my music I didn't realize was there from my crappy Viewsonic monitor's sound. The more I use these, the more I love them. I tried other speakers in the price range - Logitech, Cyber Acoustics, and Altec, and nothing really satisfied me like these do.They have enough bass to really blow any other 2.0 speakers away. I really didn't want a separate subwoofer as I don't have too much space. These really do the job! They're a very nice size and the cords are a good length (USB for power + audio cable) and I like how they are bundled together.I am listening to my usual playlist as I write this and I'm shaking my head at how lucky I was to pick these! These speakers are AWESOME!April 2014: I'd like to add that I have now purchased 4 pairs of these: I keep 2 at home for my wife and myself, one at work, and one for my brother. Everybody loves these, and I count twice, so 4/4 give these 5/5. Wonderful product. 5
