Customer Reviews

Nice Digital Picture FrameI bought this picture frame as a gift for my grandmother. I played with it and set it up for her. I love the picture frame, as does she. I was able to load lots of pictures for it to scroll through. I set it to where it changes pictures every 60 secs. It's user friendly and doesn't take long to figure out how to navigate the on screen menus. 5Worked great until thenStopped working in less than an hour. Worked great until then... 1Great for Business slide show..I've bought about seven of these now to display on retailers counters a slide show of my pest control company. They work well. FYI I can't get them to play videos but can't say that it's even supported.. not much documentation. The only slight problem is that they are not very user friendly.. menu is confusing and hard to learn. Great price! 4Five StarsWas a gift that was warmly received. 5Four StarsHas a great display. Just wish the user interface was a little easier to navigate. 4Good quality for the low price... until it stopped workingMuch better than most of the critical reviews would lead you to believe. I think it's safe to say that the majority of these frustrated reviewers are probably somewhat technically challenged and/or didn't bother to actually read the instructions. Yes, the instructions could use some improvement and offer more detail, but they are definitely helpful.I did have to call Giinii's help line: 866-909-3550, because the first time I plugged in my USB flash drive it wasn't being read. But the quick & easy fix for that was simply to unplug and reinsert it, which got it to work automatically. And once you become familiar with navigating the menu (took me all of 5 minutes) it's easy to use.The resolution isn't bad at all. Most of my photos viewed on this device are of average to mid-hi resolution and they look pretty sharp with excellent color saturation for a 480 x 234 resolution, 7" screen.Overall, for one of the lowest-priced digital picture frames on the market, I would recommend this one.UPDATE: NEVERMIND... it completely died after less than a year of use, would no longer power on at all. So I would not recommend this item, after all. 1... was probably the first indication that this thing is annoying. I've never used other digital frames so maybe ...Bought it at Walmart which was probably the first indication that this thing is annoying. I've never used other digital frames so maybe it's a general thing, but it's annoying as hell trying to get all my pictures to display correctly. I think these things should be able to resize it internally even if it doesn't fill the full screen. I realize that the majority of horizontal photos will work, but what I said before should occur for the inevitable vertical photos that people will want to put in it. 2HorribleCrap screen angles poor screen overall 1Frustrating. Like a cow that doesn't seem to understand that the oncoming train is a bad thing.Got it as a gift. Don't buy it. Don't give it as a gift. That's like putting a stone in a sock and saying it's a gift. The first problem was the misleading images on the box and website. The thing is awkwardly tall. They scaled the promotional images so that it looks like it has a proper 16:9 display, when it's more like 21:9. The 800x400 resolution is also a lie, as it's in truth cropped to 480x234. This means that all of your images are also cropped, regardless of their actual size. I tested with images ranging from 256x256, which left black bars, to 4096x4096, which looked extremely zoomed in because images aren't scaled, only cropped. It probably didn't help that because of the cheap pass-through LCD they used (lit by a separate LED setup placed behind it) that you couldn't see the image unless you were looking at it from three inches away and directly dead on. Looking at it from any angle at any greater distance merits your efforts with a black screen, like a child covering up half of their crayon drawing so that you can't see the random scribbles they're embarrassed about. Compounding the screens problems are that it doesn't display colours properly. When loading a single colour yellow test image to see if my eyes were fooling me, it came out as pink. No, I'm not colour blind. Yes, I have had my vision tested recently.Even without the awkward size and terrible screen, the actual display modes themselves are terrible. Either ,JPEG or .BMP only, and no shuffle or changing of folders. If you want to put your pictures on it then be prepared to dump them into a single pile and have the device sort through them (though no more than around seventy, the poor thing gets confused) without the ability to switch through which albums you want displayed.Oh, and the mounting points are terrible. The right side is heavier than the left, meaning if you've got even the slightest inkling of OCD about things being parallel to the ground you're out of luck with this thing. 1GoodGood 4
