Not dependable. Waste of money.I really wanted to like these. In efforts of going green, and having a smart home, these bulbs are very disappointing. They are constantly resetting themselves. This is especially frustrating when you are in the middle of cooking and your kitchen lights begin to strobe. It also frightens my young children. I have reset them time and again.1Ideal for anyone new to smartbulbs. Great, simple to use. Light is too "cool"/blue toned for my taste.Good smart bulbs, DON'T REQUIRE A HUB. All features easily controlled from the simple to use Geeni app (on/off, dimming, adjusting color tone of light).Ideal for anyone like me who just wants to control their bedroom lights from their smartphone, and doesn't want to pay all this crazy extra software/hubs/products designed for whole house. Def would recommend if new to smart bulbs. My con & dealbreaker... Despite these bulbs being "tunable" - meaning you can adjust the color coolness/warmth from 0 (warmest; soft white) to 255 (coolest; stark fluorescent blue-white) - I find that even the warmest setting to be too unnatural looking. I prefer the extra warm, almost yellow light we associate with soft white incandescent bulbs. These smart bulbs set at 0 don't even come close to replicating. May bother some, didn't work out for me.I included photos taken on iPhone 6 to illustrate point... (1) Is Geeni Smartbulb on Coolest (2) Geeni Smartbulb on Warmest (3) Regular 75W soft white LED bulb4Mine of have been perfectI know some people have had mixed reviews on here for various reason, but after having two of these bulbs for a few months now, they have been great for us. Both are used for outdoor lights on different sides of the house and good 50-100ft away from the wireless router. They turn on and off as scheduled every night and morning, and the app has worked for me without any issues (again I know others have said they have difficulties with the app, but I haven't experienced any problems). Even after a power outage I noticed they automatically synced once the power was restored. The on/off voice commands via Alexa/Echo work perfectly (though to be honest I never use that functionality since they're on a schedule, just tested to see if it worked). Personally, as someone who likes warmer light, I thought these were capable of being adjusted to the right "temperature" despite other reviews claiming the opposite. So overall, mine have been great and have done everything as advertised. Maybe I just got a couple from a good batch? But I'm actually surprised to see so many 3 star and below reviews. I would buy more Geeni bulbs if they ever come out with a higher power/lumen rating for some of our other outdoor flood lights where we need them to be brighter.5Good bulb, but limited app, and a few wonky issuesThe bulb works pretty well, but there are a number of issues that I don't like.1) It doesn't work with a physical dimmer switch. You have to use the app to dim it.2) When it first turns on, it flashes first for a second at full brightness and 100% cool, before switching back to the previously remembered settings. Also, in my initial testing of flipping it on and off fairly quickly, it forgot to switch back to its standard settings one time and got stuck in 100% bright/cool mode (until I used the app to set it again.)3) The scheduler isn't very good. One reason I wanted tuneable white was so that I could set it to be daylight during the day, and switch to a warmer white at night. The app allows you to control the bulb based on sunset, which is great, except it only allows you to turn the bulb on/off via the scheduler, not change the color/brightness. So that's useless for me.On the plus side, I do think it does a good job of matching my pre-existing incandescent bulbs, when I tune the color/brightness. And the initial setup with the app was very easy.I'm still debating whether or not it's good enough for me to use for all my recessed lights in my living room.3Nice light, very useful when it works, could be better.Pretty good...I bought this when my last physical light timer blew up and would have needed to be replaced. I had no trouble setting it up (had to connect my phone to the 2.4ghz version of my network to do it) and creating a schedule. When turned up all the way bright and white it makes a great light. Alexa recognizes it no problem. I am thinking of getting another one for my porch light but I'm holding back because of two things. When we have a power hit or power failure, the light comes on when the power comes back on, and it doesn't figure out that based on what time it is, it ought to then go off. So at 3am I'm telling Alexa to turn the dining room light back off. The other issue, which was more of a pain, was what happened when daylight saving time ended. All my network devices always know the time, but for some reason this bulb didn't, and it went off when it was 9:30 EDT which was 8:30 EST. I had to reset the bulb and re-connect to my network and rebuild my scheduled on/off timers. Both of these point to the fact that the bulb can't always tell what time it is, which is too bad for a smart bulb. I wrote to the company and depending on what they say maybe I will go ahead and get another one - it has worked so well so far otherwise. When we were returning late at night on a delayed flight I could turn the light on before we got home so we didn't walk into a dark house.375 watts?..... hmmI'm impressed at the simplicity of getting this bulb to work with Alexa. I had tried another brand. The app to that bulb would not find the bulbs. I got a couple of these Geeni bulbs and was happy with that they worked. I got these bulbs due to their 75 watt rating. My eyes are not that good and I was using common 100 watt LED bulbs. After installing these bulbs and tweaking for the brightest setting, I have to say I have some 60 watt incandescent bulbs that are brighter than these 75 watt bulbs. I hope they come out with a true 100 watt or brighter LED bulb compatible with Alexa.3Just doesn t workThese just simply don t work. I m an electrical engineer and I ve actually designed several smart locks for homes so I know the challenges in getting these products right. To be fair, it s probably an issue with compatibility (ios/wifi/etc), but i spent a solid hour going through every combination of setup I could to no avail. The app is atrocious. Once a device does show up in the app (and btw when it did it was never online and I could never control it), you have no way of deleting it. There is a delete function but it doesn t actually delete the product. Again, could be an iOS issue, as Apple constantly changes things to make it hard for developers, but it s just all around bad. Tried to call customer support and was greeted with an automated message telling me no one was available and to leave a number. No thanks, returning. They anticipate it not working right out of the box because the first thing you see when you open the box is a piece of paper saying STOP! Don t return this product! With a support phone number lol.Advice to the company: ditch the app and the whole setup. Make it work with alexa and automatically pair to alexa devices. Thats all i wanted to do. I never wanted to control it with your stupid app1Added Convenience and Safety! It took a few tries to get the bulbs working with my Alexa app, but now they re fine! The problem wasn t the bulbs; it was the 70-year-old user who is less than a technical whiz. The doorway into my kitchen from the dining room has no light switch, which meant I occasionally had to cross the kitchen in the dark to turn on the lights. (Great design, right?) Now I can have Alexa turn them on or off or even dim them. I also can use the app to adjust the light color (temperature) to resemble incandescent bulbs. The bulbs certainly cost more than I d ordinarily spend, but the alternative was hiring an electrician to add a light switch. These are a terrific bargain in comparison. I plan to order more ASAP for the remaining can lights in the kitchen, and maybe for the living and family rooms. I m looking for other lamps and fixtures to add to my home s smart lighting network. I love it!(By the way, these would be a great gift for any parents or grandparents who have Alexa or Google Home WiFi setups. They add safety as well as convenience two things we geezers love and need.)5Love the DesignI have nothing bad to say about these bulbs. I just had to write a 5 star review because I see so many people writing negative reviews and I think it's a shame. These work with Google as well as Alexa. They throw nice light. And I haven't really had any problems with them at all.I think a lot of the negative reviews are from people having trouble using it with the 2.4 Ghz wifi setup. Another thing that I think people are upset about has something to do with the Geeni app itself. The only trouble I ran into there was something I had seen in the reviews. And it had to do with setting up a sunrise/sunset scene. It seems all the city choices were in Chinese (Something I'm told they're working on.). That shouldn't have been a problem because it can just go off of your location instead. But in my case I had to manually go into the app's permissions and enable location sharing. The app never asked me for that when it ran :-/ But after doing that, I had no trouble with the that setup. For the price, I don't think you can go wrong!Another thing I like about the whole Geeni setup is that you have access to your bulbs, plugs and cameras all from the same app. Although I've only got a couple of bulbs and one camera setup at the moment. Ordering a few plugs next :-)5Does anyone else notice a slight flicker/pulse?The bulb works and is easy enough to get connected and set up with Google Home and Echo. I still think setting up TP-Link bulbs are a bit easier and I just like that brands responsiveness. I have this bulb in a room with TP-Link and it always lags behind them. It's the last to turn on and last to turn off. Kind of annoying. That alone isn't enough of a reason to judge it poorly though. More so when I have it at 100% I notice a slight flickering/pulsing. It is very faint and most noticable at 100% but I can also see it at 45% and higher. It seems to go away when the bulb is at 40% brightness or lower. Kind of weird and I wonder if mine is defective.2
