Customer Reviews

This is great - Invaluable!I've had a headlamp before which was okay but pretty worn. I find myself using this all of the time now. I can see what I'm doing with my furnace or making repairs since I don't have to hold the light. I used it for reading the other night when we lost power. I'm going to order one for my car and another spare for my house. I also plan on taking with me when I travel. Like the two settings although I mostly use it on high. Invaluable!5Nice and simple In a world where headlamps are getting useless-feature-heavy I like that this headlamp is so simple: Off, Low, or High. That's all I need. Actually all I need is Off and High but I'm happy with this. The light is bright and the batteries last well.My only complaint is that the switch is a slide lever and not a pushbutton, so a couple of times it has turned on getting bounced around in my toolbag. But I'd rather drop new batteries in my headlamp before using it than click 15 times to find the light output I need, so to me it's a small price to pay for a lack of frustration. 4Good value and bright enough for my needs. For the price, a really nice hands free lamp. Haven't used it anywhere but in the house, (helps me avoid tripping over cats once wife is asleep and lights are out!) Would have liked it to be waterproof, but that's not too big an issue for my use. First time I adjusted the beam direction, the sound made me think it was broken for sure, but its still in one piece so all is well. I'll update review if it fails in a reasonable timeAddendum; 8/6/16: The included batteries lasted an unbelievable 7 months with daily use, (granted limited daily use, but still). After using this item for a while now, I'm upping the rating to 5 stars all the way. A very reliable product, fantastic battery life and a good price.11/30/17: This headlamp has so impressed my wife and I for the price, we've ordered a second on now that we've adopted and dog. Its great for nighttime walks around the property!5What makes these head lamps so nice is they have simple controls I've used several Energizer head lamps for about 12 years similar to this one. This one the switch is orientated a little different and it will take some time to get used to the difference. What makes these head lamps so nice is they have simple controls. On or off. Really bright or not so bright. Infinite adjustable angle up and down. Quality head bands. 3Great for runningI purchased this to use on my early morning and late evening runs. For the most part, my neighborhood has street lamps but has a few patch areas where it's completely dark (my neighborhood is in the woods so when it's dark, there's no residual city lights that offset this). I run with my dog and we were both able to see sufficiently. The lighting in the dark was dim, but enough for me to use safely and for my dog to use to navigate the sidewalk. I also have good vision, but I can see this being a problem for someone who has any type of visual impairment. It fits well around my head, but it takes some getting used to. I didn't have to adjust during my run, so overall I'm satisfied and would purchase again if needed.4Way handier than I thought it would beI bought this during a "gold box" sale just kind of on a lark, but it has proven WAY more handy than I thought it would be. It's extraordinarily helpful to have a light shining directly at what you're looking at. The LEDs cast a very bright, focused light (or, if you prefer, a slightly dimmer but wider cone of light), and the adjustable cloth-covered headband is extremely comfortable to wear even for long periods of time. Whether you keep it in a drawer in case the lights go off or keep it in a work area to shine a light on detailed work you're performing, I highly recommend getting one of these. They make excellent small gifts to someone, or to hang onto for the occasional birthday or holiday that sneaks up on you.5Not as good as the older versionI do not like how you can only adjust the tilt of the light by the "clicks" it's allows. The older model allows you to adjust the angle to the exact position you want it whereas this one has predetermined settings for the light's position and it's never quite where I need it. The color of the light is bluer than the older model which I dislike also. This light is also missing the little pad where it rests on your forehead that the older model has. Save a buck and buy the older model and get a better product.2Great headlamp, especially for the low price! This is my favorite headlamp for daily use and i have many. First of all, the lovely blue color of lamp and headband. Might not be relevant to most people but it is an added plus. Very easy to use, just two choices of setting and no flashing to go through to get from on to off. Easy to change batteries. The price for this headlamp is incredibly low.Sometimes it's nice to have a red light option, which this doesn't have, but another lamp in the series does have that. However, the cost in weight, bulkiness and $ is significant. Also, the batteries are alkaline, not lithium, as in the much more expensive model. But that is easily remedied when needed.5Tilt mechanism is very bad & flimsy.I've had a lot of these headlamps and the best one I've ever used was a cheapo Energizer that looks a lot like this one. I bought this hoping that the hinge would work the same. It doesn't. That other one had a continuous friction hinge. This one has three detents (giving three possible positions only) which loudly and disturbingly click into place. That is not the sound of durability. Even if it lasts though, you want precise control of the angle with these things. The detent approach is just wrong. The other headlamp also had red & white modes instead of (the inferior) low & high like this one.I carefully repackaged this without even turning it on, in order to return it.1Energizer 100 Lumen HeadlightI love this headlight. It s inexpensive, basic and uses 3 common AAA batteries. Battery life is solid since they are running efficient leds. This unit has PLENTY of light for up close tasks. It has a simple slide switch low high and off. The higher lumen units are better for wanting to see longer distances outside, but those higher lumens are too bright for up close jobs and blind you with the reflection glare. They also have much more complicated multiple buttons for many different modes that most people don t need. The brighter lights will burn thru batteries quicker and you ll waste power going thru all the different modes trying to find the one you want. For most people go with the base model headlight and you will be much happier!5Good basic light; slide switch a weakness. This is the third similar head light I own. I was looking for one with basic functions, as the other two have four different variants of light, plus dimming. This one just has bright and not so bright; I use both settings. This one uses a slide switch rather than the combination push button/dimming switch the other two have. I find that the slide switch is so stiff that I have to use two hands to operate it (one to slide and the other to hold the light in place); otherwise pushing on the slide tends to just push the light around on my head. If you're going to turn it on and keep it on for some time, this may not be a drawback, but I use it to walk my dog at night and turn it on and off frequently as I move from under light posts to darkness. Bright setting is plenty bright for my purposes.4Excellent low price light duty head lamp!I needed an LED headlamp for my friend, that's an epileptic. Things that strobe, flash or blink are simply bad news for her, so finding something that doesn't flash, strobe or blink is pretty much like pulling teeth. After the last LED headlamp, made by another company proved to be of exceedingly poor quality, I was in a jam. I didn't expect it to die after less then 2 months. So search for something for her. I found this, and not a lot of other choices either that met the criteria of no flash/blink/strobe. The price was right, and generally reviews seemed ok. For 9 bux and change, can't be all that bad I figured. If not, it's cheap enough to be disposable in the end. So, we got the package. It's not frustration free by any means, but once you slash your way through the cardboard it comes apart easily. The instructions are pretty much worthless, but this isn't complicated at all. You know what you need to do just by looking. Esp. if you had head lamps before. The place where they put the batteries (Energizers no less) required some looking on how to get them free, but inside of 5 minutes it was up and running. First, getting the hand band on was remarkably easy. The headband material itself is of very good quality. Some sort of nylon/spandex, so it feels good and had proper tension on the head. The battery compartment is a simple pull tab. You just rotate the fixture down 90 degrees, and it opens right up. Easy as pie! The LED's, considering there are just 2 of them are remarkably bright. For city use, it worked well. Not sure i'd trust these for a caving, but for that nite around the campfire, or that nite walk to the store for that last minute thing, it works nicely. it's light.Very light. No strain at all on the head to wear. While it's hard plastic on the skin, it's all very smooth. So there's no irritation at all. Very nice. The slider mechanism works great. Low is pretty decent, you can easily read a book in bed without disturbing ur mate, and the high beams will do the job for light duty dark settings. For heavy duty lighting, get something better, such as caving, but as I said, for that quick walk to the local dollar bux store for that one critical item or whatever, it does nicely. The device also swivels nicely. It has a very reassuring clicking sound as it moves up and down. And the mechanism is sturdy enough that it won't flop out of place even during a quick scamper across the street (yeah, that got tested tonite whether I wanted to or not lol-gotta hate peeps that text and drive). This isn't the most solid headlamp on the market, but it is well enough built for my friends needs. Besides, she'll kill it before the years out during the next seizure fall. It's cheap enough in price it's destruction isn't a big deal. There is some light saturation around the seams, but it's very minor. It's not worth taking any stars off. You get a very good deal here if you just need a light duty head lamp.5
