    Did what I asked it to doWay, Way better than any stock cooler. It uses Intel's janky pushpins or the AMD mounting ring for easy installation, which is great if you're using a case that doesn't have a cutout on the mounting plane.I used this on an Athlon 64 x2 6000+, a Core i7-920, and a Xeon x5690 and it kept temps within reasonable specs. I never saw any temp go beyond 57c either under full Stress-Test or in a tight mATX case with a top mount Power supply and the GPU running at 100% (Hot Boxing).In the Hot Box situation I was using an AMD 4 heat pipe stock cooler on the Athlon 64 x2 which wasn't keeping up. This dropped the temps considerably.It's probably not as good as the H7 or 212 but it will work for most things. I would be wary of sticking it with the 7700k and I'd keep my eyes on the temps. The build quality could be better.I'm not sure how this would stack up against the AMD Wraith MAX stock cooler that's used on the likes of the Ryzen 7 1700 but then again it didn't come with an AM4 mounting kit either.This would probably be a good pick if you're building a SalvageYard gaming system with the likes of a Core i5-2500k, Core i5-4670k, or FX-8350 and you need something that works.5What I received was NOT compatible with AM4.Per the recommendation of reputable tech enthusiast Steve at HardwareUnboxed / Techspot, I ordered this Gammaxx 200T to use as a cheap but decent aftermarket cooler for my Ryzen 2200G.Bought it official from Amazon.com Services, Inc this July. Nope, not AM4 compatible. The packaging/instructions omit any mention of AM4 and after unplugging everything, opening up my case, removing the stock Wraith Stealth cooler, cleaning off the old thermal paste (& removing the pre-applied stuff on the Gammaxx 200T) I tried to test mounting it before applying the Noctua NT-H1 thermal paste I picked up.Nope, couldn't mount it. For AMD chips it doesn't use any special brackets, just the two pieces that come pre-installed with any motherboard. The cooler has two latches that are supposed to hook on to the two ledges on those stock bracket pieces. I can hook one latch no problem, but to then fit the other latch is impossible. I even tried loosening screws to provide more slack, to no success. Not only that, but the cooler's base appears to be smaller than the size of the 2200G's IHS!For now I had to use some pricey Noctua thermal paste to re-mount the Wraith Stealth cooler I was trying to replace. Not thrilled about that.For someof my other parts I felt justified in paying a premium for quality assurance knowing I could keep them for years. Maybe I should've done the same here.2Great heatsink for the priceI paid $20 for it and it performs within a few degrees of my $35 Hyper 212 Evo mounted to the same 3.5ghz 1050t cpu. Running Prime95 @ 3.5ghz and 1.45v, I get ~50-52c, ~45c when playing Doom. I normally go for familiar brands for my high performance parts but I took a chance and not disappointed.5Big improvement over stock cooler, both quieter and coolerI've only had this for a day, so who knows what could change, but I am absolutely loving this CPU fan so far!Ok, so I have an Intel Core i5 8400, I'm not overclocking or anything like that, but what I hated about the stock fan is that anytime my CPU usage got up to even 30 or 40%, the fan became very loud and annoying. Higher CPU usage meant it got even louder.With the Gammaxx 400 installed, it's just as quite (or maybe even more so) than the stock cooler at low usage, but I maxed my CPU - all cores at 100% for 5 minutes, and I never even noticed a difference in the CPU fan sound. The RPMs did increase a bit from around 900 to about 1200, but with no noticeable increase in noise. The blue LED is a nice touch.When I first received it, I was nervous that it wasn't going to fit in my mid sized ATX case with the side closed, but I guess it must have cleared by millimeters, because it closed easily and the heat pipes don't appear to touch the side. If your case is on the smaller side, you might want to double-check dimensions. My case is what I would consider to be about average.We'll see what happens over time, but so far I love it. Even completely maxed out for 5 minutes, my CPU temperature never went over 60 degrees C, and no discernible difference in fan noise. Great product!5GAMMAXX 200T <--- Do not buyI purchased the GAMMAXX 200T for a steal of a deal @ $7 recently. The best thing about this cooler has been its price. Everything else about this cooler is a massive failure. The face of the Heatsink does not even make contact with my CPU. I have tried in various sockets all with 0 sucess. Please stay away from this Cooler.1It works better than intel's cooler What you need to know is that I am using a i7 3700 processor. And it had a 59C average temp. I am starting a rebuild and wanted to stay away from Liquid coolers because liquid and electronics do not mix. Granted it can but not without risk. So in preparation to my rebuild which I am doing slowly, I bought this as the thing which I will use with my i9-9900k. The average temperature dropped to 39C using this fan cooler. But I must say that I used two fans not the one they came with. It does a great job and looks good. I will post a picture to this review soon. I had trouble installing this cooler because my case was to tight, it was a cool master case $40. I, in my rebuild, am taking my time to upgrade the motherboard,CPU, and memory as my unit is working but for the fact that it is having trouble running multitasking programs. Having bought a larger case, they Corsair 570x white, I then had enough room to work installing this cooler. You will bloody your knuckles installing, can't be helped. And the plastic ends that hook into the motherboard can bend, be careful. Great cooler with two fans. I refuse to go liquid, but when I install the I9-9900, if it is not sufficient, I will go Noctua NH-D15 - Premium CPU Cooler. And for the price it was worth the try, test, and we shall see.Update: When I got my I9-9900k the plastic used to attach it to the motherboard would not work. I chucked it. Had to buy another one noctua nh-d15. I lowered my rating because of it. Cheap! They could of made it with stronger plastic or metal. no good.2Love it! AMD owners read belowStock cooler with my Ryzen 5 2600 was idling at 2,100 RPMs (which is apparently normal for this cooler). Threw on this bad boy and it's idling between 950 and 1100 comfortably at around 32c temps. Overclocked to 3.8/3.9 and only increased to around 40c. I should also note that my Fractal Meshify case has solid air flow. The Gammaxx is quiet, has smooth fans, and I love the blue light.For those mounting to an AMD board: DO NOT FORCE THE CLIPS. I noticed some folks on YouTube were able to clip the heat sink in without any problems but for me that was just not possible with my board. Even after clipping in the small clip first (as recommended on YouTube), the large side was so far off that even after applying some pressure it was not even close to clipping in. It might have been fine but I just didn't want to risk damaging a brand new board. So after fiddling with it for a bit the below solution worked out perfect. It's probably recommended somewhere online but I never came across it.SOLUTION:1) Loosen the board-supplied brackets to the point where it's barely hooked into the mother board's back plate, but still connected, giving you plenty of vertical leeway2) Add thermal paste to CPU3) Carefully align and place the heat sink directly on top4) While holding the heat sink with one hand carefully and slightly lean it to one side, and with the other hand lift up the corresponding board bracket to meet it half way up, and clip it in. Although ideally you don't want to disturb the TP, as you can see by my temps I don't have any issues with my connection, including during load.5) Do the same to the second clip and then finish screwing in the board brackets to the board's back plate. I'm sure some will say to just force in the clips, but this way worked best for me. Hopefully this helps someone out there!5Cooler works wellKeeps the cpu very cool, even with the fan running only at 600 RPM. The highest temp I get running linpack or other cpu testing is 36 deg Celsius.The only negative I have is the bottom of the cooler, where it contacts the top of the CPU is not completely smooth. As the heat pipes run through it, even though they are flat, there are gaps between the aluminum and the heat pipes. Using Arctic Silver on the cpu, usually I put a single drop on the middle of the CPU and let it spread out when attaching the cooler. In this case I used a new single-edge razor blade to spread it on the CPU completely, in a very thin coat. Then I attached the cooler.5Great cooling, horrible mountingHaving previously used and been impressed with the GAMMAXX 400 on an Intel Xeon e5-2683 v3 build, it was my first choice when I needed a heatsink for a spare parts build I was doing. Unfortunately, this build used the LGA 1155 socket and the mounting system included with the GAMMAXX 400 for LGA 115x sockets is subpar. It uses push pin clips, similar to an Intel stock heatsink but they appear to be of a lesser quality. One of the push pins came out of the box bent and I did not notice it when mounting the heatsink. It still pushed down and felt like it had clipped but it was exerting no pressure on the heatsink, leading to bad contact between the heatsink and the CPU (temps were up to 100 degrees Celsius). Once I figured out what was happening and bent everything back in to alignment, it worked great (25 degrees Celsius at idle on i7-2600k). Overall a good heatsink with a terrible mounting design on LGA 115x.3I changed my mind, I like it and here is why... WHY I CHANGED MY MIND AND I WAS WRONGit turns out that you can only cool a ryzen 9 3900x so much with air, after trying 3 more coolers , with multifan in the 80 dollars range, including a dual tower, i realize that the aluminum design of the fins on this one are what makes the difference, yeah i wish it had 6 pipes , but with 2 fans on it it cools of the cpu overclocked at 4.3 ghz on all cores at 1.35 volts and it keeps it barely under 95F , and this is the best result i got, but i keep my cpu at 4.2 on all cores, 1.25v, and it never goes over 75 in load tests, so yeah its great for 20 bucks, I'm done researching, I'M sold on this one, for a air cooling solutionInitially I commented this but it looks i was wrong" Easy to install has all the mounting hardware , including thermal paste, but if you are asking if it works better than the Prizm stock cooler i replaced, it's hard to tell, yes its quieter , for sure do the fact that the fan is only going to 1500 rpm, but only dropped the temp of my system to 1c or 2c , my 3900x can't be cooled and i just have to accept it, i tried a noctua and had the same result so i went to this cooler, returned the noctua and decide later on maybe ill do water cooling ... Still running 95C under heavy load. And its ugly as hell, compared to the prizm , but not as ugly as the noctua !"5It does what I wanted I have a system with an i5-3570K and use it for gaming and in spare cycles I use BOINC to donate spare cycles to the World Community Grid. (Why not join? (...)) I measure temperatures with CPUID's HWMonitor and was getting high 70's and low 80's (Celsius) with 100% utilization at 3.6 GHz.I installed the DeepCool GammMaxx 300 and now with a small overclock to 4.0 GHz, the system runs in the low 60C ... that's pretty much what I wanted it to do, to keep the CPU cool and to allow some modest overclocking ... so why ding it a star? Installation was a real PITA. First off, I had to remove the fan off the cooler and memory stick to reach the pins (used to clamp the cooler to the mother board. The pins are, in principle, just like the pins and the stock cools so I was familiar with their operation. But the pins sit in slots (rather than holes) in the cooler mounting bracket ... I guess that allows for the slightly different hole spacing on different motherboards but it means that the cooler can twist and skew until you get three of the four pins set. And while it's doing the, the pins that are still loose will bend over so that they never will go into their respective holes until you take the thing completely off and straighten them out. In my case, three or four times and wondering how bad I as mangling the pre-applied thermal paste. Then was reinstalling the clipped on fan - It might have been easier if I'd removed one of my graphics card but I have two 970's SLI'ed slid in-between power and SATA cables for five drives and I really didn't want to have to tear my system apart to put on a new cooler ... eventually, I used some small pieces of tape to hold the clips on fan end while I snapped the clips onto the radiator and that worked okay.So that's behind me. It's easy to be pleased with the result: My system is running cooler, my BOINC score is going up a little bit and my, my, the GAMMAXX 300 fan is much, much quieter than the stock fan. And that's important to me since my computer is running 100% 24/7. Eventually, I imagine that I'll forget what a pain it was to install (though I hope I remember the tape trick) and the cooler will still be performing like a "5" but first implessions sometimes last and it definitely was an aggravating install. 4
