Decent RGB fans, better to look at than for coolingI previously bought a pre-built computer, which may not have been the best idea as I ended up wanting to upgrade nearly every part of the PC (aside from the CPU and GPU). The air flow is horrendous, and I ended up picking this set of cooler master fans to help.Cooler Master offers RGB fans at a much more affordable price than its competition. However, it appears that the price also comes at the cost of quality. Comparing the fans, I feel like the efficacy of the fans are not great. While I understand that these are for static pressure, the effects seem to be minimal. I decided on the static pressure set as I wanted to pull air through a screen filter, but even at full blast the flow is lower than I expected. While the set is definitely worth it if you're on a budget, there are much better performance fans. The RGB lighting is reasonable, and the application gives you quite a bit to tweak around. I personally enjoy using the various mirage features. The app is fairly easy to use, but I personally have not had the chance to try its abilities to sync with a MSI or Asus mobo lighting settings.Overall, this is decent for budget fans, but far from ideal for performance. The lighting is fairly bright however and can add some necessary RGB lighting to a boring PC case. It helped cool down my PC a tad, but not as much as I had hoped for.3Led's are a bit dimI just put these in not long ago so hasnt been very long. I read through alot of the questions posted here. To summarize the fans have two leads coming off each of them. One 4 pin 12/v LED and one for the fan power. You can plug up to four LED leads in the controller for LED lighting. Anything after that I guess use a rgb splitter. There is a USB cable which you plug into the controller and then to the connection on your motherboard. If your using AURA then you can plug the 4 pin for LED from the fan directly into your motherboard. Or for multiple fans into a hub or an RGB splitter and then to your motherboard pin. The leads coming off the fan are very short. So your going to need a fan hub. I have all four that I am using plugged into a PWM fan hub. Works. If your using the 4 pin LED to your motherboard for AURA I would recommend a RGB hub or splitter so you can actually reach the RGB pin on your motherboard. One issue I had was after I installed the Cooler Master software (Im using the LED controller) it starts up just fine but then shows "Do you wan to update FW?" Your only option is yes. When you click it the program exits and there is no FW updating. No change the lights or any other good stuff. I wasted an hour looking on line the fix to this. I saw people reporting the same issue. But no solutions. Playing around I found out if you click the X on the top left it closes that window and then the program starts and you can do your thing. The Master Plus software (currently Beta) program also works with the fans/LED controller. The LEDs are very dim. Not a worry for me as I have too much lighting on the computer anyway. But once I got around those challenges everything is good. No crackling or anything yet. Good for the price. They are relatively quiet right now. I read some people say after a day or so they get loud?? Will have to wait and see.Of interest- the four pin for led coming off the fan is a female. So you can plug it straight into your mother board. For the led controller you need to attach another cable to the (fan 4-pin) led lead)which then goes to the LED controller. They include 4 - 4 double sided pins to connect the female to female cables. The plug in on the controller is too small to connect the 4 pin female led plug directly into the controller without the second provided cable. Also of course there is a cable included to connect the led controller to the USB on the motherboard. The last plug on the controller is where you plug your Sata power into.4How does cooler master do it?!?!These fans are unbeatable for the price. Very bright and vibrant colors. These fans have rubber mounting holes to keep vibration levels to a min. The rgb lighting is good and bright for my liking these fans can work in rgb mode using the 4 pin 12v header or blue or red modes with a switch on the fan. Now to take advantage of those aura sync or mystic light whatever you have you will probably want to buy a 4 pin rgb 1-3 splitter because it dosent include a splitter and I m sure you mobo dosent have 3 rgb headers, now if you don t want to take advantage of that then you can use the included controller in the box that includes everything the get you setup and going. In my case I m using a 1-3 rgb splitter to take advantage of the asus aura sync. Fan cables are in black which is nice and they are about 10 inches long I had no problems with these cables. These are great fans and I have them on a cooler master ml 240l in a pull confit and I get 70c on my ryzen 2700 @4.0ghz 1.35v. They don t get too loud and really don t have to ramp up to keep my system cool. I m really impressed with these fans compared to other brands the is definitely the choice to go with. Now keep in mind this is only rgb not argb so it dosent "bling" as much as the argb counterpart but if you really don t care about that then this is for you.5Looks great, works great, very quietI'm going to keep this short. All pros, no cons for me.1. Looks great. The rgb lighting disperses well with the white blades.2. Rgb lights sync'd well with Asus Aura as adverised.3. Fans are very quiet, especially when I use them in quiet mode.4. No problems at all, so far.5Good but loudI got two of these that were included with my CM MasterLiquid Pro 240.I broke a blade, and had to buy one to replace it.They can move an incredible amount of air, and if you want a lot of air moved, it's really hard to go wrong with these fans. The only problem is that they do not do it quietly.Maybe it's because I'm using them in pull, but the motors are fairly loud, easily the noisiest thing in my system under most kinds of load.Which is sad, because the air flow doesn't seem to be too loud itself, and as I noted above they move HUGE amounts of air.The hub also rattles. For a fan advertised as 450k hrs MTTF, this is a letdown.I'm sure that they're still reliable, but I'm rather seriously considering switching them to a set of Noctuas simply because of the motor noise.- Note, that different revisions of these fans behave differently. Comparing the fan that came with my cooler with the one I installed to replace it:One fan supports full-stop 0RPM, the other does not.One fan jumps rapidly to my set RPM power, the other gradually spools up and down. Both are just as loud. :<4will not suit those who love silenceThis is really a productive fan, but is suitable only for those who are not picky about the level of noise emitted. Also, they can be used only in two positions: vertical and horizontal with the flow directed downwards. If you want to install such a fan on the radiator of an air cooler, this will be a mistake. In all ranges of rotational speeds, this fan transmits vibration, despite the rubber mounts. If the fan is installed on the radiator cooling liquid, then only push and without a dusty filter in front of the fan. Otherwise, this fan creates a clearly audible hum at a speed of 900 revolutions per minute.I bought 4 of these fans and installed them in the case. 1 on the radiator cooler noctua d14, 1 on the back wall for blowing out, and 2 at the top for blowing out. In the end, I had to return them, because they began to squeak after several hours of work.2Too many frikken wires!!!Fans are good quality and fairly quiet. RGB control is okay. Why there isn t more options I don t know. It s software....add more to it! There s 2 wires per fan though.....I get why these companies make their products very exclusive but 2 freaking wires per fan?!?! I have 8 case fans....cable management is hard enough without all this extra crap! And the rgb connectors themselves are cheap AF! I taped all mine together so they wouldn t disconnect because it really doesn t take much. And also, there s only 4 rgb plugs on the control module.....again, get with the times CM!!! My old case has 8 fans and you only offer individual control for half. The module does have a magnet which is nice.Overall I m content. But they could have taken this and made it wayyy easier to setup and manage.4A little disappointingI really wanted to like these fans, but unfortunately I was quite disappointed. They're REALLY dim, even at the brightest setting, and were barely able to illuminate even half my case. One of the three was also out of sync with the others, and was always a completely different color - I would use the software to set all three at the same static color and that one would always be on a different spectrum for some reason (I did physically check the fan, it did have RGB selected). They did seem to move air at a decent rate, but they're not the quietest fans out there. I kept them in my case for about a day before switching back to my original case fans. Unfortunately I can't recommend these.3Beauty on a budgetThese fans are the best thing you can get for the price. The understated glow looks great without being overbearing like certain Corsair LL or Thermaltake Riing fans. I connected these fans to a separately purchased Cooler Master RGB controller, which synergizes very nicely with these. The performance is nothing special. There's a lot of vibration, but that's fine if you keep your computer on the floor. They can get loud if you're running them at full speed, but you can tone that down with PWM.Appearance: 4/5Performance: 3/5Value: 5/54Very Noisy Resonating NoiseI'm very disappointed with these fans! I will never buy fans from Cooler Master again.I have 3x 120mm, 1x 140mm and 1x 200mm in the case. At first, the all spun up and lit up beautifully. All the fans changed to the same exact color at the same time, even in sync with the additional lighting strip. The noise was normal, and I was happy. However, after just a couple of hours, the fans started making a horrible resonating noise. It wasn't a knocking or tapping or scraping sound, just a noisy resonance. I disconnected the 200mm fan, it wasn't that one. Eventually, it turned out to be one of the 120mm fans which was at the rear of the case. I must point out, that I have had the exact same fan sizes in place in my case before, with NO resonating noise ever! I simply rebuilt my PC, cleaned it and installed new RGB fans.I disconnected the noisy 120mm fan, and the case was quiet again. After another day, one of the other 120mm fans towards the front of the case started to resonate as well!I have since ordered some Corsair SP120 RGB fans, and will be rebuilding my PC ... again. Lesson learned, you get what you pay for! Yes, these are cheaper, yes they LOOK nice. But that's as far as they go! A fan should be trusted to run smoothly, as quietly as possible and effectively cool your case. These fans fail in that primary function! If you want a quiet fan without lights, look at the Noctua fans. I have some in my Media PC (running 1x 140mm and 1x 90mm) and I cannot hear the fans at all! Even with my head right next to the case!! I did use the low-noise connector, included in the fan packaging. I highly recommend Noctua for quiet and reliable fans. My previous CPU cooler fan (Noctua 90mm) lasted 7 years, and was still going fine. I replaced it anyway for peace of mind, and kept the old one as spare. For reliable, quite (through the commander system) with lighting, look at the Corsair RGB fans.2
