I would recommend looking at other cables and not chancing it with ...False advertising - this cable is not UTP or CAT5e! This is a cheap cable that does not meet CAT5e standards, does not match standard color code, and the pairs are clearly not twisted. When I connected it between my gigabit switch and router it could not establish a gigabit connection (it could only do a 100Mbps connection). When I replaced it with a real CAT5e cable between the same switch and router, I had no problems with the gigabit connection. I would recommend looking at other cables and not chancing it with this one. Mediabridge makes good inexpensive cables that actually work and meet specification.1Low quality cheap cableDo not buy this cable to use for anything remotely important. It is an extremely cheaply made cable. I've never in my 20 years of working with computers actually had a network cable go bad on me, but this one stopped working within 12 hours of plugging it in. I have verified it to be the cable without doubt by using a line tester, as well as trying another cable in place of this one, and trying this cable in 5 other known working ports. The cable simply stopped working, I don't know if it's a bad connection in one of the terminals or a broken wire somewhere in the 50 foot of cable.I recommend avoiding this cable and going for something a little higher grade.1Works, but you get what you pay for.While this cable works it's the cheapest looking 'CAT5e' cable I've seen in my long career. It appears to be copper clad aluminum (silver color in center under copper color) of perhaps 30 awg. Yes I chopped it apart to see and measured with micrometer.The cable itself is around 4.7mm in diameter, it does have 8 conductors inside.It works, I wouldn't suggest using this for a permanent installation or anything outside of home use.3Cheap cable that will not support gigabitGot this in and was concerned about it feeling like cheap quality, but I went ahead and ran it anyway to the room I needed it for.Big mistake...this is now the one line on my network that won't do gigabit speeds. It was just a note, so I threw it out without thinking much about it.I connected the cable up immediately and found that 100ft was way more than I needed to thread the cable from the router's room to my room next door. For a while, I dragged the cable from room to room with me--it was long enough, after all, so why not?Then, about a month into having it, the casing started to just give up the ghost, as though the plastic had been dried out in the sun or a dry garage for years. I was a bit scared at first--one never wants to see the guts of one's cables--but the cable was still connecting me to the internet, and losing the ability to sit in other rooms didn't seem like a big deal to me. So, I set up my computer at my bedroom desk.The casing cracking away did reveal that the wires within are not twisted all neatly into pairs, as they ought to be--they're also non-standard colours (orange, grey, white, mint green, green, sky blue, blue, brown).Overall, I would say if you really need a cable and you have got a shoestring budget, and don't mind having to be stationary, go for it. It connects reliably to the internet. However, if you are going to be moving at all, or if you have any kind of environment where the wires are in danger of being damaged if they're not neatly hidden in a casing (if you have children or other small animals that chew, for example), don't get this cable.And, computer techs and tinkerers, this cable is maybe good to learn on--it connects and the casing is easy to strip off; but as I said it is non-standard colours and would probably not be good for anything but practise.3My last set broke right where it plugs in the ...My last set broke right where it plugs in the box I found that these are thicker and sends the power faster to my computer so that is why I gave it five stars I could have put a spring right where it plugs into the back of the box for more durability but that is not necessary. If it was an exstantion card that gets unplug often then I would make it more durable.5Good price for a good product!Overall I can't complain for the 100ft cable I bought. It's quite a bit longer than I needed but it's fine for what I needed it for. I keep it in my travel work bag in a loose coil and it has held up really well.5NOT A PROPER Cat5 CABLE! NO GIGABIT, PAIRS ARE UNTWISTED!DONT BUY THIS CABLE. I know the price looks great, but this Cat5 patch cable is not. I first knew something was wrong when I received the cable. It felt very light for 150 ft. of Cat5e cable (I am an IT professional and handle this stuff all of the time). The cable was also far too flexible, I could bend it in half and it would flatten at the bend. When connecting a gigabit router to a gigabit switch using this cable, I was dismayed to see that I was not getting a gigabit connection. Furthermore, the link took about 4-5 seconds to establish, as where a proper cable takes 1 second. I assumed the cable was not terminated correctly, so I cut the ends off of the cable and installed my own. THIS CABLE HAS UNTWISTED PAIRS. THIS CABLE DOES NOT EVEN USE THE SAME PAIR COLORS AS EVERY CAT5 CABLE I HAVE EVER USED. I have red, white, light green, dark green, light blue, dark blue, light purple, purple. NOT COPPER, this was stranded steel. Pretty much useless being untwisted pairs. I thought there may be damage somewhere along the 150ft length of cable. I cut a 3 foot length, terminated each end with RJ45 using my best guess at a Cat5 B wiring with the pairs (if you can call them that) that I have (White, Red, Light Green, Dark Blue, Light Blue, Dark Green, Light Purple, Purple). Still no gigabit, takes forever to link, and a cable tester tells me there is a split on 4-5 and 7-8 pairs. THIS CABLE SUCKS! I can't return it since I tried to fix it myself, so I will be throwing it in a box incase I ever need some thermostat wire or something someday. I replaced it with the Cable Matters Cat6 150 ft Snagless, and it is perfect.1
