Customer Reviews

A great economical multi-purpose printer -- when you've learned the systemThe Canon PIXMA iP6210D prints excellent documents and photos. BUT, as often happens, buyers make poor choices to suit their needs. This is NOT a production printer for photographs, although it produces excellent images on reasonable quality inkjet paper AND specialized photo papers. If you value quality over high speed; understand TCO (total cost of ownership); and can work reasonably well with your hands, THIS IS THE IDEAL PRINTER FOR YOU.First, recognize that you are getting an electronically and mechanically sound machine. Second, realize that this printer comes ostensibly FREE OF CHARGE when purchasing a set of Canon FINE inkjet cartridges at a 33% discount (approximately 50.00 USD) -- MAKE SURE THEY ACCOMPANY THE PRINTER IN THE SAME SEALED BOX.Recognize that these cartridges have limited ink capacity. However, when properly maintained, you can easily refill them WITH OEM QUALITY INKS between 6 - 10 times at an average cost of less than $7.00 per set of cartridges.Do the math, buy and learn the system, then save yourself a bundle of money in TCO while enjoying a very good printer.ADDED 11/26/2013BTW, you can employ this money saving, sensible system with current inkjet printers. Just buy in "the sweet spot" when Canon is phasing out a highly rated printer before it's time (planned obsolescence unrelated to design or continued functionality). If you prefer another brand, be sure to confirm that quality inks are available and that the cartridges are conducive to the personal refilling process. 5Gross Logistics TailNot a bad printer; I like the quality of print... but as said elsewhere, very expensive to maintain... Ink cartridges don't last long and are, as far as I can tell, more expensive. 1A little disappointed in my printer upgradeI have been using a Canon i550 for several years now printing calendars for my family around xmas time. Each calendar is 13 pages and I print about 20 of them (13 x 20 x 2 sides = 520) at high resolution. I use a lot of ink and the Canon cartridges are easy to refill. The print head died on the i550, so I searched for a new Canon that had similar ink cartridges to refill.Several of the PIXMA series have cartridges that look the same with the small difference that they have a chip on them. Instead of doing a visual check of the cartridge to determine if ink is low, the chip tells the printer driver after so many prints. Lame, but manageable !The i550 had 1200 nozzles (if I remember correctly) and the iP6210D has 4800 (again, if I remember correctly). Anyway, I was expecting prints to be much better than the i550. The prints seemed to be about the same, so the extra nozzles didn't seem to make much difference. The form factor is about the same, but there are a lot more buttons and features available. I don't ever print directly from memory card, so a lot of the features I don't use.I was also hoping that the print speed of the borderless 8.5 x 11 prints that I use for the calendar would be faster. This printer doesn't seem to print much faster than the older Canon.Overall it's a good printer, but the quality probably isn't much better than one of the lower end PIXMA printers. 4GREAT PRINTERThis is a great printer for making quick prints of your photos or other documents. For what I use it for the speed is okay. The only thing you might have to watch out for on this printer is the ink cartridges. Since a few colors are in the same cartridge, if you run out of one color you will have to replace the whole cartridge. Even if the other colors are still full. Other than that, a great printer for quick prints. 4Canon printerI just received this canon printer this week, i tried it out over the weekend with the new digital camera that i got. personaly i can say that this printer works wonderful on photos. I am not sure how much ink it will use yet since i just got it, so that could be the down side to this printer. I also haven't tried to print any documents from this printer either, so that could be another down fall. I have to admit though i was a little worried about this printer printing pictures but the ones that i tried turned out wonderful. It is really a great printer for the price for what i can see. It also has two memory card slots that you can insert your memory card and print right from there, the only bad thing about it is that you have to know what picture number you want to print sinse there is no screen to view the picture. but you can also choose the option on the printer to print all of the pictures on your memory card. I hope this helps. 4Four Starsok 4Great PicturesI printed my pictures directly from my SD card and they turned out beautifully! High gloss photo paper and a good photographer make for gorgeous pictures when you print them out on this printer! Highly recommend! 5Cannon Pixma PurchaseBought this product from the amazon web site to replace my defective IP6210D photo printer. My total cost was $75.00. The printer was new and the packing contained two cartridges (a color and a photo) Great buy, to repair my old printer would have cost over $100.00.PrinterMike 5Canon PIXMA iP6210DIt is a very good general purpose printer, easy to use and setup. 4Good little printer...This printer came free with a digital camera I purchased from Amazon, and I have not been disappointed with the printer. The printer came with everything I needed in the box to connect it to the computer, and it came with ink and software as well.It prints about average speed, and has various print quality settings to choose from when printing photos. For text, I have a B&W laser printer, but I kept this one for the occasional color document and for photos. If I were looking for a photo printer, this one would not be my main choice, but it does a decent job for the occasional family photos. The picture quality on photos is enough for my uses, but it is not quite as good as a more expensive printer would give, but good enough for framing a picture of our son to give grandpa, etc.I enjoy the fact that you can plug a memory card directly into the printer to print pictures.Overall, I am happy with the printer, especially since it was free for me! 4
