Customer Reviews

If anything, maybe a bit *too* durable...REVIEW FOR NON-TECHIES: This worked perfectly. I have to run some audio off of my phone and into a sound board periodically for meetings. This cable fit my phone thanks to the extra allowance on the plug, even with my case on. The audio is great and there s nothing tricky about using the cable; just plug it in and turn the volume up. The only minor drawback I had with this cable will probably be 100% irrelevant to non-techies, so breathe easy and grab one now!REVIEW FOR TECHIES: This solves a frustration I d been having. I initially bought a 1/8 to 1/4 cable, but it was in stereo, which caused the board to confuse the second channel as a balanced input and obliterate the sound quality. There are two boards I have to work with occasionally, and only one of them has unbalanced line inputs. On the second board I was actually cheating and using the jack that was for a secondary input cable running a balancing signal, but the board has a minor short, so if audio was playing on the phone it was still barely audible, even with the channel volume bottomed out and muted. I was really worried that this cable would give a balanced input, even though the description says otherwise, but it s an unbalanced signal (is there even a music app that CAN output a balanced signal?) and worked perfectly. I highly recommend it. The only small drawback (kinda) is that the insulation is MUCH thicker than typical for cables like this, so it s a bit rigid and can be tricky to arrange around the board when you also have other devices (laptop, mic receivers) nearby.5High quality, very useful cableUnlike so many cables that are bunched up like carrots and then tied with a twist tie, this cable is coiled up and shipped flat in a poly bag. It unrolls easily, like a guitar cable, and without those ridiculous kinks and bends that become one over time with many cables. Thank you!The quality appears to be excellent. No audio loss. No hiss. No crackles. No pops. No noise. It's of the same gauge and construction as a guitar cable. The connectors are firm and secure, no jiggling. And, the 3.5mm connector has the convenient step on its shoulder so that it will accommodate smartphones, players and tablets with cases installed.I purchased this adapter cable so that I could connect up my MP3 player to the 1st channel XLR input of my new Fender Acoustasonic 15 amp which does not come with an AUX input. It's a simple, low cost solution that works quite well. Although this style of cable is available in shorter lengths, the 6-foot length enables me to keep the player a comfortable distance away from the amp so that I don't have to repeatedly bend down to work the player's controls as I play my guitar.5Purchased this Cable Matters XLR to TRS 3.5mm to connect my PA system to my cell phonePurchased this Cable Matters XLR to TRS 3.5mm to connect my PA system to my cell phone. This cable is made of very high-quality wire. Works well and transfers sound well. Would recommend to anyone who is trying to connect from XLR to TRS 3.5mm.5This is Heavy Duty and sounds great! This cable seems HD. I used to have an XLR to 1/4 inch to 3.5 mm male. This takes care of all that. 3.5mm plug is long which I am able to leave my cell phone case on and still works. Most 3.5mm are short and you have to take off the case. Would recommend to anyone needing this. I have only used it for 3 hours but I feel this will last with normal use.5Good cable for the price. This is a very good cable for the price. Good quality "Neutrik" style male XLR at one end, gold-plated male mini-stereo at the other, well insulated and pliable cable. No complaints here.Just make sure you know what you need, and what you're getting. Three conductor cable with typical TRS (tip/ring/sleeve) wiring at that end; unbalanced mono XLR wiring at the other end. What this cable does is take a stereo feed from, e.g., the headphone jack of an iPod or similar personal stereo device, and "sums" it into an unbalanced mono feed/signal that can be plugged into a single channel of a pre-amp/mixer or other XLR input. This feed can then be panned to center, but the stereo separation will be lost.5GREAT QUALITY-GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! I was surprised and elated over tbe quality of not only my order, but the customer sales team as well. There are only 5 stars here to rate Cable Matters, but you all are a 10 company! Cable Matters is now one of my #1 go to online stores. 5I get the feedback hum each time I plug it in.Let me start by saying I am not a sound person, and I have zero qualifications on this type of product, but here is my experience. On Sunday mornings, I plug this into my iPad Pro, and the other end into the microphone cord, that is plugged into the wall. I play short little video clips that are 2 -3 minutes longs during my lessons at church. If I turn on the sound system first, I get some really awful humming and clicking sounds through the speakers while plugging in the iPad. If I plug in the iPad first, and then turn on the sound system, the hum is still there, there is just less of it. If I mute the iPad most of the hum disappears, until I turn on the volume when I run the movie. Since I also use a microphone during class, I can't just leave the sound system off until the video clips play.I borrowed a cable from a neighbor for the first month of teaching my class, and I just plugged in the cable, and was ready to go. I finally decided to get my own cable, and chose this one after reading the reviews. I wish I didn't get all the feedback when hooking things up, I wish I didn't have to plug items in in a certain order, I wish I didn't have to remember to mute the iPad, get everything ready, then turn on the sound system, then turn up the volume on the iPad when showing the video clips, and then turn it back down when the video is over. I wish it worked just as good as my neighbors ten dollar cable. Oh well, it does work, and since I only use it once a week, I will keep using it so that I can get my money out of it.3Poor Sound QualityUse this to connect iPad to P.A. System , Sound was Distorted / poor quality. Not sure if its because im converting a stereo signal to mono? I was previously using an 8th inch to a stereo pair of quarter inch. and it sounded perfect even with volume all the way up on the source. I wanted to use the XLR because it gave me more EQ options on the Mixing Board. At any rate, the sound was heavily compromised with the use of this cable on 3 different mixing boards and an audio interface.1This is a great quality cable! So, I got this cable for a powered speaker I use during drum lessons I teach. I originally used a y cable and mini mixer so I can play music from my phone to the speaker.I recently discovered this cable and decided if it eliminates 3 other cables and components why not.So I just tried it right now during my lesson and it is excellent. There is zero static noise. The speaker is dead silent when not being used. The cable itself is high quality and seems very durable. The volume is fantastic and I noticed an increase in volume not a decrease like I was concerned about. Overall I'm very satisfied this inexpensive cable has reduced my setup and breakdown time, improved sound quality, and has made my life easier.5This goes into a middle school music room. It has to last. This replaced a similar cable in a K-8 school. As you can imagine, cables there get some abuse (although we've come a long way with training the kiddos - you're never to young to learn proper coiling technique!). This cable allows the kids to use an XLR microphone with GarageBand on an iPad, and it gets used a lot. So far, no issues. It feels nice and solid, but is still flexible enough for the kids to coil properly and hang it on the wall when they're done.5Works well for your 1/8" -> XLR needs.OK, it's just a 1/8" -> XLR connector so it's probably just plain wrong to love this, but it works great and I would have no hesitation to buy another one of these. I DO have a problem with the way it's described. It's not XLR to 1/8" as the title says. This cable takes a signal from, say, your iPhone and converts it to an XLR signal.5WORKS GREAT! Works Great, I didn t even have to change the level from line to amplified, worked just fine and allows me to get more options than just the standard 3.5mm on my JBL EON206Ps mixer. I m using extension XLR cables to make the cable reach across the room, very heavy duty and durable, even more heavy duty than my regular XLR!!! Great! 5I finally found this great cord. Connecting directly to the microphone jacks in ... Did the job! After years of placing a microphone in front of the computer speaker for a presentation, I finally found this great cord. Connecting directly to the microphone jacks in the church's hall greatly improves the quality of the presentation. 5
