Kick A$$ Little Speakers for the $$I HATE that I like these so much...but I do. I have them hooked up to a receiver (bare wire) that I use with my pc. Now, I also have a sub woofer so it evens the sound out nicely. Watching a movie or listening to FLAC's or MP3's, these things are clean and clear. I wouldn't mix on them but take them for what they are and realize that you're getting something pretty great for the price. As for the hazardous label? Well, there's poison in the air, water, Earth and cereal...just don't eat them and you should be fine. 5Nothing Special, Nothing TerribleI bought these initially to use with a t-amp for my own little smart phone music center on my nightstand. They are so lacking in the bass that they proved unsatisfactory for even background music. However, they do produce nice crisp mids and highs. They do shine as speakers for my old CRT television. The internal speakers are so rattly at this point that it is extremely annoying to listen to them. These fit neatly on top of the television unit, and work well to provide nice sound WITH THE SUBWOOFER turned on. I do not believe that these babies go all the way down to 90HZ as the manufactuer states....sorry. The best sound was achieved when I adjusted my sub's crossover to the highest possible frequency.Overall, I can recommend these if you pair them with a reasonable subwoofer...in that case, they score a solid 4 stars. If you plan on using them solo, look elsewhere (in this case, they score 2 stars at best...hence my 3 star rating). There are plenty of reasonably priced small speakers that actually produce a bass line. 3Really tremendous value for the price, nice form factor and function!I've got an internet radio in my kitchen with some internal speakers that just weren't cutting it. As it also has a set of external speaker outputs I started looking for something. Now, this is just for background music in the kitchen, the occasional podcast, news, or weather. I wanted decent sound, but I didn't need or want to invest substantially in something with real high fidelity. I also didn't want to take up counter space or have to deal with a bunch of wires strung everywhere.I saw these speakers and the price point was nice and the reviews were positive enough for me to give them a shot, and boy I'm glad I did.In conjunction with some universal wall mounting brackets, these are tucked discretely away in opposite corners of one side of the kitchen. The only modification I made was to drill a small hole in the back of the case of each so I could slip a bolt through to attach to the universal wall mounts. While I had the cases open, I replaced the paltry paper batting with some polyfil, not sure if that does anything, but it made sense to me at the time. The wires are discretely hidden in some metal wire molding. All in all, these are great little speakers for the price. They're tiny in stature, but for my kitchen background music application, they're ideal.Having spent some time with them, I think they'd make fine rear channel speakers in anyone's surround sound or other application where absolute audiophile levels of fidelity or really "big" sound isn't required. Of course, given the small size, bass response is minimal, but that should come as no surprise. The cones are definitely paper/cardboard, but for the application, and price point, I think that's completely justified.I can't say anything negative about them as long as your expectations are correct going in. 4Pyle Economical Speaker SolutionI was about to drop a hundred and fifty clams on a name brand speaker for center channel. Since I have quite a few small speakers laying around from "leftover" stereos, I experimented with one of those first, and then decided to give these Pyle units a whirl. Ideally, I would utilize both of them together, angled slightly outward to duplicate the high dollar unit I was looking at. But the impedance would be a bit low for my amp, so I ended up just using one of these as a center channel for the home theater. It sounds pretty good, and I am going to keep it. What I like best is the size; my objective is to minimize the amount of real estate that things like this take up, but without sacrificing big sound. There is a lot of disagreement among audiophiles about what makes up a good center channel, with some folks opting for fairly sophisticated horizontals that are both pricey and space-hungry, but I tend more towards the "point source" concept. I have run this speaker at high volumes quite a bit with no problem; since the modern sound system uses independent amps which are dedicated to specific ranges of the sound spectrum, I don't believe my normal listening volumes exceed the capabilities of this speaker. I am considering a pair of these in white for my rear channels; with the small size, I think I can make them blend in with the room. 4Good Affordable Stereo SpeakersThese are good, affordable speakers with a nice sound that I use with a second flat screen TV to improve the sound quality. I have them hooked up to an old Sony receiver and they work great. These use bare wire connections so they cannot be connected directly to the TV. They are meant to be used with a stereo receiver and speaker wire (not RCA connectors that TVs use). The sound is good but they don't have much bass. Not a problem as a substitution for the rotten speakers in most flat screen TVs. They seem to be of decent quality and easily portable. Really can't be beat for the price. 4Awesome Sound for a Small PriceThese were bought to to be rear satellites for my 7.2 home theater system. To test them, I swapped them with my front speakers, high-end Logitech THX speakers, on my computer setup. I noticed right away that they are slightly more tinny sounding than the Logitechs. But, the sound quality is not significantly less and after a few seconds of listening to them the ear compensates and they sound very good. If you want better sound out of a small satellite speaker, you will have spend significantly more money. I would gladly use these on my computer setup if I did not already have my Logitechs. And, these are more than sufficient for any kind of rear/side surround sound on a home theater system. You cannot go wrong if you are looking for great sound at a bargain basement price. For their price range, these Pyles easily get 5 stars. But, you can get higher quality, better sounding satellites for a lot more money. In relation to what is available on the market regardless of price, I rate them at 4 stars. 4Four Starsgreat little speakers. I'm using this with a basic lepai amp for my computer speakers, they really crank.*update: One of them fell maybe a foot and a half onto the carpet. Hooked it back up, was very tinny and could barely hear it. Shook it a little, something sounded loose. Pulled the 4 screws off, there's some sort of coil in the back that's only held on by the magnet. Took a few tries to get it to mount back on properly. This seems like a bad design, there should be some sort of silicone or something holding these 2 pieces together, but at least it's working again. 4Great little speakers with amazing sound used with a Logitech 2.1 subwooferWonderful little speakers. I used them to replace the satellite speakers of my Logitech system that has a subwoofer. After trying to find driver replacements for the satellite speakers that were blown and first getting drivers that were way too small and then the second order ended up on backorder I decided to replace them altogether with these.Really glad that I ended up going this route as these sound better and look better. I simply cut the wires going to the Logitech satellite speakers and hooked them to these speakers. 5Little bass, but great highs. These are decent speakers for the money. Note: you are only going to get the high frequencies with these. I use them with a set of floor tower speakers which are all mid and bass frequencies so these speakers are perfect compliment. They sound surprizingly good for the price. I am using them most for TV but with Roku I stream Pandora and SomaFM and it sounds great. I power them, not with a receiver but with a Lepy class T amplifier with a 5amp power supply. The amp doesn't even get warm. For my application, these speakers were exactly what I was looking for. 5Mini speakers at a low cost when even a small set of bookshelf speakers won't fitI've now installed these mini cube speakers in our travel trailer so we'll have an audio source adjacent to the TV when playing DVDs on the Jensen in-wall RV stereo receiver (instead of having to listen to the main ceiling speakers that are not in the trailer's sleeping area). I'd be exaggerating badly to claim that these speakers sound anywhere near as good as the 5 1/4" Pioneer two-way mobile speakers that I installed previously in the ceiling to replace a failed set of factory RV speakers, but they (a) fit perfectly in the small space available, (b) actually look OK after being "Velcro'd" in place, (c) have nice spring-loaded speaker connections on the back, and (d) were a low-cost solution to our needs. I don't know how long they'll last, but at this point I'm quite satisfied with how they've allowed me to finally resolve an annoying design issue with our travel trailer. 4
